"If you're up for it I'm up for it." Pete promised with a nod, taking the invitation to come inside, moving to sit on the recliner, leaning on the edge, his elbows on his knees. He knew that if he leaned back he'd just get comfortable and not want to move. Besides, at least this way they could continue to converse more comfortably. The room itself was sadly barren, though he knew she was still a fresh arrival.
He was slightly transfixed by her socks, and it was a little obvious, the small hint of amusement on his face not disappearing until the word "girlfriend" came out of her mouth. He'd heard everything she'd said before that, but the thought of anyone mistaking him and Wicked for a couple made his face contort with surprise. Still amused and now slightly embarrassed, but surprised.
"Friend." He corrected after a second, trying not to laugh, though he grinned instead, his brain trying to wrap around that idea and failing. "She's just a friend." The smile toned down a little as he spoke again. "I thought I recognized you. You were in line, right? I'm sorry I didn't realize you'd also gotten involved in what happened. I would have helped." There was a pause before he added. "Things like that don't happen so often. You don't have to worry, the school's very safe."
