Introducing the WWOMB Monthly Contest!

Introducing the WWOMB Monthly Contest!

For both authors and reviewers.
The WWOMB Multi-fandom Archive, http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin/index.php invites one and all to participate. You do not have to be a member of any list or comm.

CONTEST DETAILS:

Want to win a prize for something you already love doing? The WWOMB, in conjunction with host Squidge.ORG is running three monthly contests starting in October 2010. Participate, and YOU CAN WIN ONE OF THREE $10 GIFT CERTIFICATES to either the Apple iTunes store or Amazon.com or an item out of the Squidge.org CafePress store up to $20. Here are the categories:

1) Most prolific author of the month on WWOMB

2) One random author from the month (different than the most prolific)

3) One random commenter from the month

Every month, on the first of the month, three different queries will be put to the database. The first query will search for the author with the most stories for the previous month, the second one will find a random author that submitted a story from the previous month (excluding the most prolific author's penname), and the last one will find a random commenter who commented on any story over the previous month. Each winner will be contacted via their email address in the system, and be offered one prize from the following: A $10 Apple iTunes gift certificate, a $10 Amazon.com gift certificate, or one item from the Squidge.org CafePress store worth up to $20 (not including shipping).

The Fine Print:
# Open to anyone registered on the WWOMB and participating per above requirements.
# Hostmaster 'squidgie' and Webmistress 'peja' are not eligible to win
# Winners from one month will not be eligible for the next contests that month, and for the next month's contest. e.g. If user 'maximo' wins the most prolific author contest for the period September 1st - 30th, they cannot win the random author or random commenter contest that month. They are also ineligible to win the contest held for the period October 1st - 31st, but will once again become eligible for the period November 1st - 30th.
# It is assumed that all registered users are participants. If a user wants to opt out from all contests, please contact Hostmaster at 'walterh@squidge.org'
# Apple iTunes and Amazon.com gift certificates available worldwide. Squidge.ORG CafePress store items available in North America (Canada, United States, Mexico) only.
# Most prolific author is for the number of total stories added to the WWOMB over the contest period. e.g. If someone uploads 15 stories of one chapter each to WWOMB, and another person uploads 3 stories with 8 chapters each, the winner is the first person with 15 stories loaded.
# Hostmaster and Webmistress reserve the right to mark a winner ineligible in cases where the entries are fraudulent, including but not limited to A) stories the author has not themselves written B) the same story uploaded multiples times with intent to skew the numbers C) entries deemed ineligible such as random characters (i.e. 'abcd1234') being submitted for a story or a comment on a story.

If you have questions, please direct them to Peja at makebelievearchive@gmail.com or Walter at walterh@squidge.org

First winners announced October 1st, 2010!

**Please do forward this to any list or comm...or orphan author, you think might be interested.

WWOMB New Functionality

Posted with Walter's permission

There is exciting new functionality that we wanted you to know about, which is why we're sending this message.

The WWOMB now offers a way to get a daily listing of new stories that have been submitted to WWOMB, and stories that have been updated on WWOMB. You must enable this feature, however. You can do this by logging into the WWOMB at:
http://www.squidge.org/~peja/cgi-bin

Once you are logged in, click on "Account Info" at the top, then click on "Edit Personal Information". There is a new checkbox that asks, "Do you want a daily email with links to new and updated stories?". Simply click the checkbox, and once a day, you will get an email update from WWOMB with new and updated stories.

If you have questions, you can contact the archivist at makebelievearchive@gmail.com or the webmaster at walterh@squidge.org

Thank you!

Walter H., Webmaster
Squidge.org

SIDENOTE: since this message went out, Walter has added a tick box to receive newsletters for current news from the site as well. News can be as simple as the daily prompt, or as important as a glitch fix on site.

I've also added a board on http://peja1956.proboards.com/index.cgi to discuss the site and ways to make things more user friendly.
