The dinner that Emma had arranged to have with Ms. Daae was to be somewhat spectacular though she was playing it off as quite normal. A limo arrived to pick up the pair, as she had not invited any other students this time, and took them into town where they were to meet two acquaintances of Emma's. Male acquaintances. The two gentlemen met the limo at the restaurant's door and introduced themselves to Liberty. The older gentleman's name was Michael and Emma tucked her hand into his elbow as they turned to enter. The younger one was Christian, supposedly Michael's nephew but one could never be too sure when dealing with Emma Frost. Could've been an elaborate ruse to pull something from Liberty.... or it really could've been something as simple as Frost said, "One must always have a man to take to dinner, darling." Always have a man to take to dinner, huh? Liberty would have informed Miss Frost that she did have a man on the brain since her arrival, but that would have been rude seeing as how she was in the company of someone who was being nice. Both Miss Frost and Christian himself. Taking Christian's elbow as Emma took Michael's, she nodded once. She had no idea what to expect with this dinner, but if it was anything like she was picturing, she did have some experience with them. After all, she came from money. Just because she no longer associated with her family didn't mean she didn't know when to play the part handed to her. "So... what should I be expecting tonight?" Still, never hurt to ask. Frost smiled as she turned back to look at the young woman while they were being shown to their table, "Whatever you want, my dear." Which was the truth. Part of this was a chance to reopen the young woman's eyes to the things she was missing by leaving her lavish roots behind. When one became accustomed with such things as Emma always got, then they expected those things to continue. Showing Liberty what she was missing by not living well beyond her means was just one of the few things on Frost's mind. She also hoped to get in the girl's good favor. "But, currently, the plans stand at a long dinner so I can get to know you and a little bit of dancing with our gentleman friends here." She placed a loving pat on Michael's arm as she hugged herself into him just before he seated her at the table. She thanked him and Christian for joining them and then turned her attentions back to Liberty as she was the guest of honor today. "I could probably just look up as much information as I needed in your file, Ms. Daae, but I wanted to speak to you myself and get it all from you. It's so much more fun." The woman smiled brightly, "How long have you been a student at the school?" She hadn't even given the young woman time to order. Well, that was her mistake, but she was excited to be out again and away from that horrid little place, full of... children. Liberty herself could probably be counted as one of those children, but dressed like she was tonight and sitting at a table with Miss Frost preparing for a lavish dinner... toss in the limo and the place they were at, she felt like she was back in her life before her power came out. "Not very long. A couple of weeks really. Maybe a month. I haven't really kept tabs. When Devyn showed me around though... Xavier's is absolutely amazing." Just speaking about Devyn had Liberty smiling. He was a good decade older than she was, but so what? It wasn't like she didn't have experience, and that was what life was about right? "Well then," Emma was looking over her menu now and trying to decide what she wanted, "We seem to be in the same boat since this is my first time here as well." They were alike in a few ways and that pleased her. She took a moment to order her dinner and also a few things extra, alcohol that she planned on sharing if Liberty felt up to it. "I'm glad to see that you like the school. I seem to be growing somewhat partial to the charming little place myself." Half-truth. She liked the school, but not all the little creatures inside it. "Hmm," she wasn't as prepared for this as she thought, "What classes are you planning to take when the semester starts?" "The basics, really. I need to brush up on my regular studies. I missed a lot while I was in the hospital, so its better that I don't overwork myself I figure." Liberty wouldn't be sharing the alcohol simply because she didn't drink unless she was really upset. A drunk was the reason she didn't have her real family, after all. "Other than that, I'll probably look into a choir class and a dance class if they're available." Liberty loved to sing and dance. They were her passions really, and she was damn good at both. She began to look over her own menu, smiling at Christian and then biting her lip as she looked over the selections. Did she really want to come off like a pig? Or like she didn't have a care in the world for what other people spent on her? Living with the Brewers had taught her little things here and there about families who weren't as well off as hers had been. Emma remembered that she should probably say something about the meal itself and waved a hand as her drink was brought to her, "Order whatever you like, my dear. You don't have to look at the prices." She could sense the uneasiness about her. Frost smiled as she took a quick sip of her drink, the men currently forgotten, and cocked her head a bit, "Pity you're not taking anything in business or economics. Those are mine." "I think I'm actually taking an economics class. I was looking into the classes here and thought it looked interesting." Having the go ahead to order anything she wanted, Libby figured she'd take the blonde up on it. And, oh yes, Liberty could put it away. But she could do it with grace if that was what was needed for tonight. Running a hand through the waterfall of red curls, she smiled at Emma and then looked down at the menu again. "I warn you... I like to eat. None of that salad picking for this girl." Emma waved her hand again as she nodded and continued to drink a bit, "Yes, yes. So can I. We'll see who can do the most damage to a whole pig, if you'd prefer?" The woman was, of course, joking, but it was fun to joke around about such things. "As for the economic classes, they aren't meant to be 'fun'. They're meant to be work. If you're looking for fun, I'd go for a business class. I know at least one involves groups who make pretend investments and such. It's more like a massive role-playing game than a class, really." "I seem to have fun in weird places," she pointed out with a shrug. "We'll have to see when the term rolls around won't we?" Sipping at her water, she sat up straight and seemed to lean back in her chair at the same time. "So... I'm not exactly ignorant enough to believe this one on one dinner is all for my benefit at being introduced into the school easier. If that were the case, I wouldn't be the only new senior here. Is there an ulterior motive I should know about?" All of it was asked with a smile, but she was honestly suspicious. "Honestly," Emma was trying to be as polite and coy as she could be, but this girl was as her file said. Determined and not an airhead. That was a wonderful thing really. "I want to know about you, Ms. Daae. I want to know what you like to do, where you like to go." And about your abilities. She projected the last thought because, well, Emma didn't speak of mutation in mixed company. Not only was it something that stirred people up, but she also wasn't sure just who she could trust. Easier to let them discuss normal things aloud, but project other topics mentally. "I am truly interested in you. And that's the truth." Most of it. She really was interested in Liberty, but it was in a way as to try to figure out how to 'recruit' her into her own little squad of troublemakers. Children who would help the fantastically wealthy rule the world in a fantastically outrageous sort of way. Smirking softly at the sound of the voice in her head, she cleared her throat. ~So that's your gift? Telepathy? I was expecting a little more, but this is cool.~ Rolling bare shoulders, she cocked her head slightly to the side. "What's there to know about me? My family kicked me out because I scared my dad to death..." ~Was it really my fault he scared me so badly I ended almost boiling his blood? Not in my opinion.~ "I moved in with my best friend's family. My best friend turned into my boyfriend and I had a real family for a little while until a drunk driver took both my fiance and my baby away from me." ~As for my gift, even I don't understand it fully. I can manipulate any aspect of blood I want to with the exception of my own blood type.~ "That should clear things up." Frost sat her drink down upon the table and lowered her chin a bit. Such a tragic tale, but Emma wasn't without her own. "I can understand disownment and tragedy. My father disowned me while my mother was too drunk to care." He considered my gift to be a disease and that I wasn't his child because he swore to God that he never had such a thing as an 'X-gene.' "My eldest sister was killed in an accident. I still don't know the entire story there." Again she took a pause to drink but continued, "And my father had my beloved brother nearly beaten to death once he found out the man was gay." Again, he professed he had no such nature, dirty blood as he called it, in his family and tried to stomp out something else he thought to be 'impure.' Mutants and homosexuality, he hated them both. Oh, if he could only see me now. She had no real contact with her father anymore. She wouldn't be surprised if the man was dead and gone. "We're quite alike, you and I." She seemed to be thinking that over and over. Perhaps she simply saw something of herself in the young woman that put it too close to home? That was the most likely story. She saw helping Liberty as a chance to help herself. She had been lucky enough to stand on her own too feet, but Emma could make Liberty's life easier than hers had been by giving her guidance. Liberty nodded slowly, taking in all the information both spoken and projected. "I have four older brothers. I've always been the baby but, when things hit the fan, they weren't around to see it. They were all off doing their own things. I don't even know if my father told them what happened. Don't even know where they are. Or if they share his opinions." She'd always loved her brothers. Found comfort in knowing that she could go to them when she needed. Being parted from them for so long was sheer torture, but Liberty took it like a pro. ~Parents can be large fucktards sometimes can't they?~ There was no other word for parents like theirs. Even though Libby was speaking of upsetting things, Emma still managed to laugh a bit. The laugh, though out of place, really didn't even phase her male companion who, of course, knew of her genetic disposition. He was one of her pawns and so he submitted to her will, as did his 'nephew.' Both were quite content to sit and be wonderful pieces of male eye-candy until they were spoken to though they did pipe in every so often with something nice to say because it would look rather odd if they didn't. Emma simply left them to their own devices as she focused on Libby. "Who is your... what are they? Mentors? At the school. Who is your person of guidance?" She hadn't found that bit of information in the young woman's file and so she did need to ask that. It was information she wanted. Perhaps she could charm them into turning Liberty over to her. She'd already taken over some of Hellion and DJ's time, out of necessity of course, but seeing as Liberty was new this might be the right time to jump in and fully claim her as her own. What a wonderful turn of events. "I couldn't even tell you, honestly. I don't know what you mean. I mean, there is one person who I'm just... completely comfortable around. But he's probably not my guide since he's nothing like me." ~Our powers are nothing alike. He's a chameleon. Very cool... but he made me look like a valley girl for two seconds and I almost hit him. That was just scary.~ Libby was enjoying her time with Emma, simply because it provided her someone to talk to. Perhaps someone she could trust later on. She hated being alone, even if she'd been that way for years now. "Oh," Emma gave that reply to both the mental and vocal statements. If she did not know who her power coordinator was then, most likely, she did not have one. Oh, that was so promising. So very promising. We may not have the same powers, but I can bet that yours are somewhat psionic in nature. Perhaps that would do with dear Charles until we could find someone that also specializes in the sort of biological manipulation that you display? It was less of a question and more of a thought about what they could do. Frost wanted Liberty. She wanted to have her and keep her as her own now that she was getting to know her and what Emma Frost wanted, Emma Frost got. |
