WHO: Rogue + Mark Sheppard WHAT: Breakfast NOTES: None
Rogue considered leaving Xavier’s that morning, running away. It was nothing new; Rogue considered leaving Xavier's most mornings. So many times she had almost packed her duffel bag, donned a jacket and slipped right out of the door before anyone could question what she was doing. She couldn't help but feel like it would be easier to not touch people if there was no one around she wanted to touch. And it had been, for a while, when she had been out on the road. Before she met Logan. And then it had gone right back to complicated.
Sighing deeply, Rogue pulled on a pair of satin gloves. Not exactly casual wear for most people but for Rogue, they were essential wear. God forbid she accidentally touched someone while reaching for a piece of toast at breakfast or for a door handle in the rush to get out of class the second the bell rang. So gloves it was -- long ones if she was wearing a short-sleeved shirt -- and long pants, of course. There was no option for Rogue to be revealing in what she wore, even if she wanted to. Besides, the last thing she needed to do was attract people to her when attraction was about where it ended. She would never forget what happened with Cody and it was this that encouraged her to keep people at arm's length. Quite literally.
It was still quite early as Rogue left her dorm; at least, early enough for most of Xavier's students to still be fast asleep. Rogue only wished she could be fast asleep, she didn't feel like she got nearly enough sleep lately. It was the nightmares that were to blame. Nightmares of the events on Ellis Island and the time she had been in Magneto's captivity, nightmares of sending one Cody Robbins into a coma ... Logan's nightmares. Yes, as if her own nightmares weren't bad enough, she still had enough of Logan in her mind to relive some of his experiences in her sleep and no, it wasn't fun.
Willing the thoughts of nightmares and Logan out of her head -- it was way too early in the morning for anything so complicated -- Rogue left her dorm building, crossed the courtyard and entered the main mansion building, weaving through the maze that was Xavier's Institute until she reached the kitchen. Belied by her slim figure, Rogue ate quite a lot. And that morning was no different; that morning she was ravenous.
