WHO: Kurt & Betsy WHAT: Talking, a little mind altering that goes wrong... WHEN: 9|2, around an hour or so after Ororo and Kurt talk/fight WHERE: Xavier's gym
Kurt had bamf'd away to the gym. He had blown it again. What was wrong with him? He knew he was hurt, knew his ego was bruised that she was with someone much younger, but she really didn't need him to come do on her so hard. He hung upside from the rafter of the gym room. What was he going to do? His emotions and feelings were all over the place. He needed to sort things out. Everything was happening to fast.
He hung there thinking about what she had said before she left. Her words were harsh, but probably what he needed to hear if he could get his mind out of its current state of being hurt and the need to lash out. "Actually, when I was in the mind of a teen, no, I didn't remember you. I didn't remember any of this...all I remembered was my life on the streets...stealing, being a little street urchin and loving the little I had because it was all I know.." His head tilted as he remembered. "So no, I didn't think you of you. When I got my mind back, yeah...I thought of you, Kitty, Logan, Scott...Jean. She had said she hadn't remembered anyone. Maybe he was a fool to think that if you loved someone that you remembered them always. Maybe he was a fool about a lot of things, like making vows to God over things that were just guilt things. He said, and flipped back over so he was sitting up right on the beam again."
She had also said, "Maybe if you would have fought for me, maybe if you would have gotten off your high horse...maybe then you wouldn't have to act like I've done a stupid dance on your heart because I wanted to! You're acting like I did all this because it was the fun thing to do, you're a selfish little bastard." That hurt... but she supposed she was right maybe he was on too much of a high horse, he hadn't even really went fully through seminary. Who was he to judge her, only God was to do that. However, was it really all his fault? Was he as male supposed to be the one to claim the feelings? Why couldn't she had taken the chance too. They both didn't take the chance to possibly get hurt or disappointed.
Maybe he had been stupid to to make those personal vows to himself and God out of guilt of not finishing to become a priest. Though at the time, when he was twenty-one it seemed like the right thing to do. Now that he was older it all seemed foolish. If only he could go back change that... Maybe then he would have fought for her... He shook his head.. he didn't know would he have still kept his feelings to himself in fear of losing her friendship?
Betsy had been wondering around campus, looking for Brian, as usual. Whenever his students couldn't find him, they always managed to find her. "Where is Professor Braddock?" they would say, and she would have to locate him. She was doing just that, however, she did it the old fashioned way. She walked through the gym and stopped in the middle. "Brian Braddock...Fenyx?" She called out. She knew that sometimes they hid in the gym and made out in the projector room, but not today. She heard a noise from atop of the rafters, and saw a blue tail. "Kurt? Is that you?" She said as her bionic eyes zoomed in to confirm. "What are you doing up there?" She called out.
He tried to look okay as always, and beamed the not very good fake smile. "Vhere else Vould the fuzzy elf be? Does it really look so odd?" He hopped down, landing gracefully on both feet. "Hello, Betsy, I meant to tell you the party vas great." He said as he leaned in to kiss her cheek. His glowing amber eyes looking sad, and giving away that he was really not what he was trying to appear to be. "If your looking for your brother, this vould not be the place he is otherwise I might be in the infirmary with Jean. He doesn't like me." He shrugged.
Kurts eyes looked down. "Who vants your brother anyway?" He asked softly. It wasn't hard to see that really really wasn't the normal goofy bouncy off the walls Kurt that he usually was. Also she may have noticed that shortly after the beginning of the party that he had commented on being nice he had somehow been missing for the entire rest of it.
She looked at his eyes. She had known Kurt long enough to know when something was wrong. "I suppose it doesn't look so odd." She said with a smile. She kissed his cheek in return. "Thank you, but it is something that I believe will be left to the professional party planners next time." She said with a grin. "He will get over it eventually, I believe. He thinks that everyone wants to steal Fenyx away from him." She said with a sigh as her hand rested on her hip. "Oh just some students, but they can wait." She said as her eyes narrowed a little and she brought a hand up to his shoulder. "I'm sure this is none of my business, but how are you love? You look upset about something." She smiled gingerly. Out with it, was her best policy. She could pull it out...
He shrugged. "Found out some disturbing news, and it has me not really knowing how to act, feel, or react." Kurt sighed, "Ororo... I am sure as much as I have vanted to keep it to myself it is no secrete but I have had a thing? Attraction?" He shrugged again. "She came back from being away vell... Different as everyone can see, And a ... Few other things." He wasn't about to tell anyone else about her being with child. That was hers to tell, Logan already probably told enough people when he blurted it out so loudly at the party. "Anyway, it seems like vhile she was gone, she had some memory lose for a vhile, and she fell for someone else hard. Silly blue elf, never told her how he felt... Stupid promises made at way to young over guilty matters that now don't seem to mean so much when your heart is bleeding on the floor..." He looked around him, then back at Betsy.
If she did any sort of scan to get the bits that he wasn't saying, she would find out that the person who had caught her heart was only eighteen to the best of his knowledge. Also that the promises he had made were with God shortly after returning from the seminary and back to the institute. That they were made because of guilt of failing to stay and become a full priest, and that he had given up the one thing that meant the most to him, and that was to be with Ororo. That it had been his own vows personal not anything to do with any of the vows that he may have made while in seminary school. That he had named to himself married to God, hence celibate and unable in his mind to be with Ororo. But that was in his mind at that time the best he could do as a sacrifice for his failure to complete his calling.
She saw his eyes, and watched them while he spoke. She could almost feel the pain coming from him. She pulled her long purple hair behind her ears. She wasn't sure what to say. "I wish I could tell you not to worry about it, because the things we have done, are really undoable, love. All you can do is fight for her." She brushed a hand over his ear, and barely made contact with his blue skin, and entered his mind for a moment and read his thoughts. "Pacts can be unmade." She said softly as she guaged his eyes for a reaction. She might be able to fix this for him....maybe.
He looked away. "Its not like that. I can't just vin her back. There is something else in the vay, and it is a big something. A something that I couldn't allow myself to get in the middle of." He shook his head. "My pacts, as you call them are vith God. Can I really say I take them back now? I made a mistake?" He shrugged. "I vas wrong, but just because now, and at a point vhere it is too late I figure this out doesn't mean that I should not go by it now that, that is gone."
"Betsy... Sometimes I vish ve could just go back... Go back and change one thing. Vould it be so bad? Vould it stay the same even vith that change... Maybe ve aren't or veren't meant to be." He cringed though, it seemed still so wrong though for her to be with someone so young. However, if he knew half his friends were with people that were younger then them maybe he wouldn't be so bothered. However he only knew of Ororo right now, not Jubilee, and Logan too were heading in the way of being a pair.
Betsy pulled him into a hug. "It will all be ok." She said as her hand touched the nape of his neck, and she entered his psyche to get a closer look at the memory. The colors seemed to pop as she watched him make the pact with his god. God would want you to be happy She projected back to his corporeal self, while the purple glowing butterfly floated casually around the memory, trying to make it come more alive. She tried to get inside his head, inside the memory. Perhaps if she could reason with him inside the memory itself, he would realize what a mistake it was. The butterfly, which she projected as, flew inside the memory...but she didn't get far. Her body became limp on top of him, and she saw black. She was able to get back to her corporeal form, but she couldn't wake up. She had over-exerted herself. She hadn't done that before, and now she paid the price. Her limp body started to fall to the floor.
Kurt caught her instantly not letting her fall to the floor, all he knew was whatever sadness he had been feeling for Ororo, and the problem before was lifted a bit. That it didn't seem quite so important anymore, and things that happened when he first came back seemed fuzzy, He blinked, holding Betsy to him, and then easily lifting her into his arms, where at first he had laid her on one of the soft trampolines that were for gymnastics. "Betsy, Liebe?" He lightly tapped her face, but not hard enough to hurt, but enough to bring her around if it were. She didn't, and he looked down at her lovely face.
He picked her up and quickly rushed her to the infirmary . He pushed the doors open with one shoulder in order to not hurt her. "Someone... Please... Help! I don't know Vhat is wrong vith Betsy. Please." He saw an orderly, it wasn't Jean, but it was someone, someone that could at least look at her. Some how he had a feeling that he didn't want anything to happen to her.
The orderly took her from Kurt and laid her easily on a cushioned examination table. "What happened?" She said calmly as she started putting sticky pads on Betsy's body. "How did this happen, Mr.Wagner?" She said softly and non-accusatorily as she turned on the machine. It beeped in time with her heart, which was beating steadily. The orderly turned on another machine, which monitored brain activity, and it appeared that she was showing signs of increased brain activity, which meant she was actively trying to wake up. "She appears to have..." She said as she watched the screen. She turned back to Kurt.
Have what? Kurt thought. He looked around at all the machine, he was pretty good at first aid, knew her heart was beating fine, looked normal. That she had brain activity, didn't know how much or little she was supposed to be, that was beyond him. "I don't know, one minute she vas hugging me the next she vas slipping from my body. Have vhat?" He asked anxiously. His eyes roamed around the machines, and then back to the orderly, then to Betsy's sweet face. "Have vhat?" He asked again, picking up her hand.
She pulled the file up on the teacher, and checked her powers on the computer. "Only over exerted her powers a little bit. That's all." She said as she unhooked the brain scan machine, and touched Betsy's arm with a single finger. The place where she touched gave a white glow, and the glow shone through her skin as it followed the veins through Betsy's body. "It will only be a minute." The orderly said calmly, and within a minute Betsy;s eyes opened and she sputtered as she inhaled air like they were running out of it. She looked around wildy, and saw she was in the infirmiry,
Kurt smiled, it was a relieved and happier smile then he had, had when she first encountered her. "Vell, hello there, sweet child. You scared me." His eyes seemed brighter, he was just glad she was alright. He still didn't know quite what had gone on, why she had collapsed. The orderly said she had over exerted herself using her powers. But he didn't think she had been, he knew when she touched his temple she had gleaned something, but he hadn't realized that when she had hugged him and placed an innocent hand on the back of his neck she was trying to alter his memories. Luckily, it had only partially worked, it had altered his feelings to be not as strong toward Ororo, and indeed, just friendship, and his memories of when he first returned from seminary were fuzzy at best, however strong feelings toward Ororo had been replaced onto Betsy to some degree. However, it was a side effect of what had happened, so how long it lasted these feelings toward Betsy was anyones guess. "So, Vhy you want to scary the fuzzy blue elf in such a vay, Miss Braddock."
She inhaled deeply through her nose and tried to sit up, but was too dizzy. The orderly pushed the bed up a little so she could sit up, and still be supported. "There you go."
"I didn't mean too, really." She said with a smile, and a little blood trickled from her nose, but she didn't realize it. "I'm not sure what happened." She said as she popped her neck. "I remember going black." She said, but what was it. She looked at Kurt strangely...something was different. "Oh..Ms., will you call my brother please, and let him know I will be staying here tonight." She knew he would come barging into the infirmiry, but he had to know where she was, or he would worry
Kurt cringed when she mentioned her brother. Oh God... Would he think he was now trying to defile his sister? Dear Lord, why can't he just leave me alone. He went to sit lightly a bit on the bed next to her. "It's okay. I don't know vhat happened either, but I do know that you made me feel better." He smiled. "I don't know if its that lovely smile, soft voice, and soft touch you have, or something else, but I do feel much better then before." He flirted, which he hadn't done really all that much since the party, and finding out about Ororo.
He picked up her hand tenderly, and then noticed the trickle of blood. He frowned, and commented about it to the orderly. "Is that normal?" He asked, as he tenderly wiped her nose with the edge of the sheet, and showed the orderly.
The orderly grabbed a tissue, and wiped her nose. "It is normal for all psions who over-exert their powers to have some physical manifestation. Even Charles Xavier gets a nosebleed once in a blue moon." She said with a smile as she threw the tissue away. "Now, Ms.Braddock, I can't force you to bed, but I can enforce an environment that makes you want to go to bed." She said with a tight smile.
"You have a few minutes Mr.Wagner, I'm going to call Brian Braddock." She said as she strolled away to the phone in her office.
She blushed, and wondered why he was acting this way. "I'm glad you feel better Kurt." She said as she hugged him softly. Her arms were very shaky.
He smiled, hugged her back. "Okay, Liebe, I think that she is giving me a hint, and if she is calling your brother... Vell... I like my legs the vay they are." He lightly lifted her hand and kissed it lightly. "By the vay, your cheeks looks very beautiful vith a faint blush on them." He got up lightly, and stood. "I vill check on you tomorrow, I vill come here first, hope you aren't here, and then hunt you down to see if you are all right." He said playfully. He felt light, felt not as heavy. At some point he knew he would have to speak with her about his behavior he had, had toward her today, but he first had to let her cool down, and gather his thoughts so somehow it wouldn't happen again. He didn't want to lose her friendship over some silly thing that more then likely would have never happened anyway.
He smiled at Betsy again, bowed, turned, and with a wave at the door left just before the orderly came to tell him to leave personally. "Your brother is on his way." She said calmly, "Get some rest now before he comes."
