WHO: Xavier & Ororo
WHAT: Ororo gets called in to straighten out some things.
WHEN: 8|19, around 4PM.
WHERE: Xavier's office.
COMPLETE
Professor Xavier had managed to cross many things off of his to do list. Yes, even men with brain power like his, had to do lists, granted he never actually completed one because as soon as one thing was scratched, another three things were added. He crossed through another item and looked at the name below. Ororo Munroe. She had come back from Africa de-aged. A mystery indeed, but something was perhaps still amiss. He touched his hand to his head, as for some reason, it made locating people easier, he wasn't sure why, but for him, it did. Ms.Munroe, if you have a moment, could I see you in my office? He asked politely, but poignant enough that she would know it was really a summons, and not a tea party. Lucky for Ororo that she was use to the voice that rang through her mind, or she would have spilled boiling water down her lap and may have seriously been injured. Instead she looked up, as she often did when she heard his voice calling to her - as if this time he were actually going to be standing there looking to her for something. She sighed a little, she didn't want to go but she knew she had too. Besides she'd been thinking of seeking him out the last day or two. I'll be there in a few moments Professor. She set the tea pot back on the stove, made sure the fire was off, before turning about face and heading in the direction of Xavier's office. She'd walked these halls so many times in the last decade or so, and yet this time felt so much different, again she sighed. Within moments she was at his door as promised, knocking lightly on the door and waiting to be admitted in. He heard her knock, and he sat up in his chair. It wouldn't matter though. She had seen him on his worst days. He smiled. "Come in Ororo." He said gently as he wheeled over to his microwave and placed two mugs with water in both of them inside the microwave and programmed one minute and thirty seconds, and hit the start button. He smiled as she opened the door and rolled back to his desk, opened a drawer and pulled out some herbal tea. She had been the one to introduce him to that, and he was greatly appreciative. "Please, have a seat. The tea will be ready shortly." He said kindly. Of course he'd known she was making tea! She smiled brightly as she walked into the office and closed the door behind her. Microwaved water was better than nothing, "Thank you Charles." She smiled sweetly as she walked further into the room and finally took a seat in front of his desk so that she could watch him wherever he moved. Xavier was basically the only father-figured Ororo had ever known, the kindness at least, the only one who didn't specifically use her for one thing or another - but she still talked with him as if he were an authority figure in her life at times. It took a very emotional side of Ororo to speak on calmer terms with him, "How may I be of service?" She finally asked, instead of asking how he was or any other form of formality. She sat straight as usual, her hands clasped gently against her lap. He smiled as he retrieved the water from the microwave and placed them on his desk, and pulled a rather large box with many many many kinds of tea. Some that were from foreign countries too. He grabbed a bag of Rooibus, which was native to and only found in Africa. He sighed as he placed the bag in his cup and allowed it to steep. "I wanted to see how you, and Remy LeBeau, were holding up. I know it must be difficult with you being...de-aged." He said with a small smile. "I know that you will be fine, I suppose." He said with a nostalgic laugh. "I am curious about our new student that seems to be rather smitten with you." He said with a raised eyebrow, as he pulled up a video of him staring at a picture of Ororo in the lobby on his first night at the mansion. Ororo blinked slightly and tried to train her eyes on the bridge of Charles's nose, it was so much easier to look at someone's face and make it seem you were looking into their eyes without actually doing so. When he took out the box and got his tea, she did the same, opting instead for a simple mint green tea. The scent of mint calmed her like nothing else, and she wanted to remain calm. His words though would have made her blush, if he hadn't brought up the video of Remy. She watched and smirked just a little for only a few seconds, so he really did have a picture of her after all. She'd thought he'd been kidding. She sighed a little and moved to sit on the edge of her seat as she looked to Charles again, "Well, he's a teen unsure of his own age. His history isn't too far off from my own Charles, for about seven months I lived with him on the streets, the first five or so I had some form of amnesia and he helped take care of me. It wasn't until I finally remembered everything that I decided we should come back here, I couldn't leave him on the streets." Though now she knew he had money, lots of money - just as she did. Those were secrets though. She sighed a little and looked down finally, "I don't know what to do Charles...." She finally admitted with a hint of sadness. "I think......" She stopped and shook her head so the white of her hair fell around her shoulders, "I think....he's...I think we..." And she couldn't say more because there was such guilt running through her she didn't know what to say, so she just looked up to him with the gems of her sapphire eyes filling with tears. He listened intently. It was one thing for someone to be sad, but it was quite another, when one of your favorite ex-students and now faculty member started to cry. He set his tea down gently on the desk and wheeled his way around to her side, as he had done years ago when she was just a kid and had come in crying elephant tears. He pulled out a handkerchief out of his suit pocket and handed it to her. "There there there. No tears hm?" He said softly. "Surely it can't be that bad now." He said with a smile. She watched him through the cloud her eyes had become and tried to keep herself together, she wasn't letting the tears fall just yet, but the way he came to consul her made her feel safe enough to let the tears fall down her cheeks silently. She took the offered handkerchief and patted at her cheeks with a soft, "Thank you." A deep breath was finally taken in as she tried to straighten herself again and relax herself all over again as well. Finally she shook her head and looked to him again, "No, it's not bad...I just feel guilty." She tipped her head slightly, "I didn't know who I was, I had only memories of my life before here...we didn't exactly date, but....we might as well have. It wasn't until my memories came back that a relationship actually started though and I don't know how I let it, and I'm not saying I regret it because I don't." She sighed softly, "I may have to give up my post as counselor, I don't think it's ethical to date a student and see them at the same time." Then she laughed a bitter laugh that was unusual for her, "I don't think it's ethical to date a student! I think it's against the damn law." There was her guilt and her conflicted emotions....so she looked to him and silently question,'what do I do? Feelings were never silly, nor were they always rational. "I can honestly say that I think you have done nothing wrong, and definitely nothing to be ashamed of Ororo. Nothing at all." He emphasized as he placed a gentle supportive hand on her back. "As a counselor, it would be unethical for you to be seeing him." He said honestly as he pulled her hair back, and away from her face. "There we go." He said as he smiled a supportive smile. "However, we do have another counselor on campus, so that problem is no longer a concern. Remy is 18, so he can make his own decisions, for himself. I have no problem, and neither would the law, as long as he is in none of your classes. We are a privately run school and institution, so technically we are held to the same laws, but in reality we are not. I urge you to follow your heart Ororo." He said as he removed his hand from her back and wheeled back to his side of the desk and picked up his mug of tea and sipped it carefully. Ororo offered a soft smile as she looked to him as he pulled her hair from her face, that simple movement was so special to her. It helped her remember her parents when he did that, the warm feeling that those ghosts of her past could sometimes still offer. It was something she'd picked up from both him and Jean, and often did with Kitty in the same show of parental caring. She took another deep breath as he moved away from her and she nodded taking in his words, though if they were sinking in...that was another story. Sure there were on a level, but now she was confused. Remy was 18? Why had she been thinking he was younger, he made it seem like he was younger - or did he do that because he knew her true age? Now the conflict and guilt were gone, but were replaced by confused - which was never good. "I don't want to give up my position," she paused with a sigh, "I don't want to give up my relationship either. I don't have classes, I don't have to 'treat' him...it shouldn't be a problem then..." Something he'd said had seemed to calm her, and it had been the age situation. How had he found out that Remy was 18? Though she dared not asked, she dared not bring it attention again - or someone would dig...and someone would make her feel like a pervert all over again. "Thank you." She finally stated as she physically pulled herself together and reached out for her own tea to finally sip. So Professor Xavier didn't exactly know how old the teenager was, but he had done some digging. Deep digging. It was rumored that the devil eyed boy that some called le Diable Blanc, was 18 years of age. The people he had talked to described the boy to the T. He could only assume they were the same person. The chances of similar looking mutants with identical powers was incredibly unlikely, not unheard of, but more of a statistical anomaly. Xavier made a mental note to put the digging on Remy LeBeau on top priority, because of all things he valued, happiness in others was always a priority to him, and never to be abandoned."You are very welcome." He said with a smile. "Now, let us talk about our rooming situation." He said with a raised eyebrow. He didn't have to invade her mind to know what was going on, or what would more than likely go on. She was two seconds from spitting her tea back into the mug when he brought up the rooming situation, but she kept her poise - or the little she had left - and swallowed pretty hard as she looked up to him from her mug, her head tipped down just a little. It gave her the look of a caught teen trying to pull of innocence. It wouldn't have worked a year ago, but in her old-young body it was the perfect mimic of days long past. It was like he was telling her she had to wear clothing all over again, it was kind of funny in a cute but not cute way. After swallowing the hot tea she set the mug back on his desk and smiled. "Well, Remy isn't exactly use to beds to begin with...and I can't say I'm comfortable with him sleeping in a bed with Mark." She'd done her own digging, she wanted to know who he was rooming with without actually asking him." She admitted honestly, "We are comfortable sleeping together, we lived in a box for seven months...not a lot of room....and I talked to Logan, he sounded like he would be gone for at least a year....so I just figured since the boat house is basically empty....Remy and I could move in there?" The move had already taken place really....she hadn't though she needed permission on it, maybe she was wrong? Honest mistake! "We could...I mean...we could move into my room in the faculty dorm, but I thought that would be awkward enough..." She then smiled a little more and decided to fill Xavier into her main thought, "I was hoping, and this is if you allow it, I was hoping that I could build my own home across the lake...." She had the means to do it after all. Xavier wasn't exactly sure what to say. He didn't want to say no outright, but he was completely against her idea. For now anyway. He picked up his mug and took a long sip and set his mug down with a laugh. "Mark Sheppard. He is absolutely a handful." He said with a laugh. "However, I do not think you are giving him enough credit. " He said with a quirky grin. Professor Xavier knew that Mark had offered to move the beds apart. He was there inside Mark's head listening to the two of them. He was the one who planted the idea to steal the painting, into Mark's head. "I do want Remy to have a place to be in case things don't work out." He said cautiously. She would know what he meant, and not that he wished it to happen. "Well, you are free to have the boathouse, or even the attic if you so choose, but I don't really think that now is the proper time to build across from the lake." He said carefully. He didn't say no never...he said no for now. "I think that even you know that that isn't the best idea right now." He said with a loving smile. "Just remember that even though you aren't ethically bound to end your relationship, just remember that you are skating on very sensitive water Ororo. I think you are doing the right thing, but some might not." Professor Xavier couldn't think of a single person who would say anything to her or Remy, but it was always best to be cautious. "If you have any problems at all, please come see me. You must promise me that." Ororo started to get more comfortable, lifting herself up so that she could cross her legs under her so that she was sitting 'Indian-style' on the chair and watching him as he skating around telling her no. It wasn't often she was told no, but she also agreed with him - and knew she wasn't agreeing due to him messing with her mind. Other people may have to worry about such things, and maybe she did too, but she trusted him like she trusted Jean. If it had been Emma, well she might have wanted to have Xavier there with her so that she knew for a fact Emma wasn't playing some game. She nodded and brought her mug to rest between her hands as he talked, the warming of the cup seemed to warm the rest of her body until she didn't know if she was as hot as the water within the mug, or if the water had finally started to cool off that much, she was fine with either, and started to sip again as he talked. Maybe Logan would do something so they could share the boat house, "I don't want to kick Logan out." She finally stated almost defiantly, but it was more about privacy for all of those included. "I'll talk to Remy about the attic, I would feel horrible forcing Logan somewhere he wasn't comfortable. He's made the boat house a home for him, it wouldn't be fair to expect him to up and move because of my....issues." She finally finished with another sip and a quick nod to Xavier's last statement, "Of course, I wouldn't try to keep something from you Charles." She smiled softy, "Besides it being almost impossible, I have no reason not to come to you." She answered honestly. After a few seconds she hummed slightly before beginning again, ".....Not to get off subject, but...I've been looking for Patricia Owens, I can't seem to find her." "It can all be worked out in time. For now though why don't we let things lay where they have landed for the moment. I wouldn't necessarily call it kicking him out. It was his choice to leave." He added politely, but letting his disapproval of him leaving being very obvious. "I am honestly worried about her. I have used Cerebro to locate her, and determine that she is at least safe. Her mind seems to be acting strange though, as if something is influencing it." He said with a sigh. "I hope to have the Keller Clothing Massacre, as some of the students have named it, solved as well, as soon as I talk to her." He said with a frown. He hated punishing students, but knew it would have to happen. He had a gut feeling that she was behind it though. "I've already talked to Mr. Keller." Ororo stated in her 'normal' voice, and though she sat and looked like a teen there was still that brilliance of her maturity lingering there in her eyes. "When I read what had happened I decided to step in and work things out, I wanted to get both sides first, and then see what should be done." Though if Xavier was already sure that Patricia had done what she was being blamed for, then she could let it go now. "I don't think it will end there though, I'm quite certain that either Julian or Patricia still may have more to say." She sighed a little and placed her half gone tea back onto the desk and lifted her right hand up and pressed her index and middle finger against her temple. She rubbed the area slowly as she thought, it helped Xavier locate, it helped her think. "I don't think punishment will help her however, I would really like a chance to just sit down and talk with her. She obviously has anger issues that she hasn't worked out, and it sounds like she may have issues with people her age." She looked up and moved her hand away from her head as if she were suddenly presenting something, "On the other hand, she doesn't seem to be following the rules, which may point to having either issues with boundaries, or she needs someone to remind her every now and then that she's still a young adult, and has responsibilities." Ororo would have to freshen up on Patricia's exact case, she couldn't think of the girls past off the top of her head. He just smiled. A huge smile, even for Xavier. "I don't think I have told you, how proud of how far you have come." He said with pride. "It sounds like you have things under control." He said as he pulled out his list and crossed Patricia and Julian off his to do list. "It seems like I will never finish this thing, but you are making it easy." He said as he put the list away in his desk. "Well, then, you certainly know this situation better than I do, so please go ahead and see it out." He said still incredibly proud of her. "If anyone can help her, I know it would be you Ororo." Ororo fought off a blush, compliments from Xavier, Jean, or even Logan could go straight through her and make her feel giddy in ways she forgot she could feel, though these were all internal emotions and nothing showed that much physically except the quick darkening of her cheeks and the smile that crept over her features. She nodded slowly as she watched him place his sheet away, maybe she was still going to be able to do good here after all. "Thank you." She finally stated softly, with this refreshed sense of self worth she was able to pull herself form her chair and nod again, "I will of course let you know what happens, and the best way I personally feel the situation should go. If in deed she needs a firmer hand, I will have to send her to you..." She looked away then and sighed, "Though if she's already becoming something of a runaway case, she may not be able to be saved so quickly." She looked back to him and smiled a sad smile, "Learning through life's hardships is the only way some people will ever learn." She nodded a little again, "Thank you Charles, for everything. I will send you my report, as always." She smiled and because leaving things on such clinical terms wasn't what Ororo was about, she moved swiftly to Xavier and hugged him, a full hug because it was the only type Ororo ever gave. "Thank you, again." She said calmly as she pulled away and headed for the door to leave the office. She had work to do now, she had to pull up Patricia's file and hope for the best. |
