Who: Kurt/Paige
When: Backdated Thursday 7th August Morning
Where: Xavier's institute Kitchen
What: FFFFOOOOOODDDDDD.... what else would you need in the morning?
Rating & Warnings: " G "
Paige was, once again, found in the kitchen. Except this time, she was making breakfast instead of snacking and sketching. Sure, her sketchbook lay on the island, but she was full on go at the stove, flipping a pancake in the pan. The plate on the counter next to her had about five more pancakes on them. She was on a roll... and she wasn't sure how many she was going to make just yet.
Kurt came into the kitchen, his stomach growling. He was just going to grab some orange, and maybe some cold cereal. However, his nose was met by the smell of pancakes, and that sounded good. He wondered if by acting cute he could possibly nab himself some.
The person at the stove did not know he was there yet, and he didn't want to scare them. Cooking was a delicate procedure, and Lord knows he had burned himself enough times that scaring a person where they were burned was not going to get him any goodies. So he scuffed his feet to make his presence known even though he had walked in fairly quietly. "Guten Morgen, mein Kind."
Mornin', Kurt," Paige replied after looking over her shoulder at the fellow mutant. One would be able to tell he was of the persuasion more than she, but with Paige, it never really mattered. "How are you today? Would ya like some berakfast?" Paige never really held back when sharing, it came from being a part of a big family.
"Ahhh, Paige, always such a sweet child." True, she could well be close to his age, as really he wasn't all that old, but the child stuff had come from his stint in the seminary. "Did you hear the big blue fuzzy elf's stomach before I scuffed my feet?" He grinned up at her, coming behind her then to the side of her. "If you're in the mind to be sharing some, I vould love to have some."
She smiled brightly at the blue elf, eyes alight with happiness and kindness. "Of course Ah'll share. What's tha use in a big breakfast if its not fer sharin'. If yer stomach can wait a little longah, I'll probably make four more aftah this. Makes five pancakes fer each of us," she replied with a smile. The seventeen year old college freshman was nothing if not kind. And she didn't mind sharing in the least.
Kurt grinned and then moved away so he wouldn't get in her way and started to set up two plates, silverware, napkins, glasses, pitcher of milk, and orange juice. He looked at the table and then remembered he had forgot two very important things in his mind for pancakes. He went back to the refrigerator, and pulled out butter, and syrup. He then nodded his head in satisfaction before turning and asking, "Is there anything else I might help vith?"
"Just move mah sketchbook ovah to tha table an' we'll be settled," she replied with a smile. "Ooh, and a couple of tha strawberries in tha frige, if ya please." She smiled and gave the pancake a flip, watching it as it flew into the air. "Aftah that, Ah think we're set."
Kurt did as he was asked, he was always pretty obedient if a pretty girl was behind the telling. "All, done meine Schönheit." He smiled back at her, and then moved to stand next to her.
"Those smell so good, I don't know vhich one of you are the better cooks, Miss Kitty, or yourself." He then hopped up onto the counter, balancing in a crouched position, with his hands on his knees, seemingly to just balance on his feel on the edge of the counter. More then likely the places, positions, and balancing acts he could do would amaze most. However, it was all due to the flexibility of his body, and the training he had got in acrobats in the circus in Germany way back when.
Glancing at him, Paige chuckled. "Damn, Ah wish Ah was as flexible as you. Ah mean, Ah'm pretty flexible on mah own, but if Ah was as flexible as you, Ah could probably incorporate it inta mah fightin' an' be a whole lot bettah." She was always striving to be better because, in her eyes, she was never quite there yet. She would always think she needed improvement. She wasn't enough.
Kurt smiled and winked at her. "Vell, you know no one can get as flexible as me," He was teasing as really it wasn't that hard, though it did help that his bones seemed to be different then most. "Really it just takes a lot of training, and stretching exorcises. You might never be as flexible as me, as my bones from my mutation are different then yours but you could improve. If you like I could help you, and you could take my gymnastic class." He nodded at her.
Thinking about it, Paige nodded slowly as she flipped another pancake. "You know... that actually sounds like a great idea, Kurt. What would Ah do without you." She flashed him that bright smile again as she flipped the pancake onto the plate. "That was tha last one. Slip five onta one plate fer me an' you get tha othah five. An' then we're pretty much set as far as food. All we'll need is conversation, an' we seem ta be doin' alright on that front."
Kurt chuckled, as he jumped off the counter, landing perfectly on his feet. "Sure, love," She took the plate of pancakes and put five on one plate, and five on the other. He poured some orange juice in his glass, and looked up at her. "OJ, or Milk, Paige?"
"Milk, please," she answered, washing the pan out in the sink. She always washed her dishes after using them. It made things go quicker that way and she wouldn't be washing piles of them afterwards. It was how she'd always done it at home, so the habit carried over to Xavier's mansion just as easily. "Thank you."
Kurt nodded, and poured her a glass of milk. He didn't sit down until she was near the table, and done with what she was doing. He smiled up at her, and said, "You would find a way to be without the great Kurt Vagner, but I know it would be sad, and hard." He mocked a sorrow face with his hand draped over his forehead. He then chuckled again.
"So difficult, yes. But Ah'll hafta manage whenevah ya ain't around, angel," she chuckled, shaking her head in amusement. Setting the pan on the towel by the sink, she turned and moved towards the table, dropping into her seat and tilting her head back. "Ah really shouldn't be awake, but it nevah fails. Ah cain't tell mah alarm clock no."
He sat down, and tucked into the breakfast that was prepared, but bowed his head, his hands clasp together. He whispered to himself, "God bless this food that has been prepared for me, bless the person that was kind enough to make them for me, and keep her safe, Amen." He then started to put butter and his stack, and syrup.
He smiled up at her and said, "Vell, this furry little elf is very happy that you are up, and about. Thank you very much for sharing vith me, and I think we could train an hour on Saturdays if you like? Anytime you say." He winked at her.
"That would be amazing." She smiled at him, raising her head after he did. "Ah definitely have time on Saturdays." It wasn't like the girl had dates or anything. She was somewhat considered a nerd around this place. "Any specific time?" She dug her fork in, grabbing a strawberry and taking a bite after drenching her pancakes in syrup and butter.
He smiled at her. "God bless you, Kind. You will do well, because I know you are all ready flexible, it will just be making you that much more with yoga, meditation, and stretching your limbs a little more."
"Maybe around noon? Is that too early for you?" He asked between bites of the food. "MMM, this is amazing!" He took another bite. "Better then some old dull bowl of cereal." He winked.
"Is that what you came in here for? Cereal? What would you do without me, Wagnah?" she teased back, reaching over to shove him playfully. "An' noon sounds perfect. Ah'll have already been up fer eight hours." Paige chuckled, stuffing another forkful of pancakes and strawberry in her mouth.
He laughed, and caught the hand briefly that had punched him, and kissed it lightly, before letting it go again. "Seriously I have no clue!! Probably have very dull breakfasts and die of starvation. It vould be awful. So, I suppose it is a good thing I have such a beauty like you to cook me breakfasts!!"
"Perfect, you will be a private pupil of mine. We will practice you flexibility, and who you can use that in your fighting." He nodded.
Paige blushed, drawing her hand back once he'd let it go. "Yer gonna turn me as red as an apple, Kurt Wagnah. Red clashes with mah complexion."
He looked up from his pancakes, what were left of them, as he was making quick order of them. Cocking his head at her really looking at her. "I think a little red in your cheeks makes you glow that much more. You are a beautiful young lady, and someday some wonderful man will figure that out, and love you for your beauty, and even more, your brilliant mind." He smiled at her lovingly. He loved all the students in this institute and was constantly praying for their well being and happiness.
Paige smiled, feeling the burning in the tip of her nose that usually came before tears. She fought it back though, giving her head a small shake. "Thank you, Kurt. Ya sure have a way with words." She laid her hand over one of his, giving it a squeeze, before moving back to her food.
His head still cocked when she said what she said. "It is easy to say things that are wordy, when you speak the truth, and with your heart." He nodded as he finished the last bite, and then looked at the plate with a genuine look of surprise. "Vhy that vent fast!!" He chuckled at himself. "I guess I vas more hungry then I thought, the way I gulped that down. Of course, put good for in front of me, and really it probably von't be there for to long." He chuckled some more.
He sat back in his chair, not to willing to leave his beautiful companion just yet. He wasn't any idiot, true, most the girls were too young for him, but it didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the beauty that god created, with brains to go with them. "Have you figured you classes out for this coming year." He asked, looking very satisfied indeed, with what he had eaten.
She nodded. "Ah'll be a college freshman since Ah graduated early. Ah figure Ah'll take mah basics, then focus on some computah classes as well. See if there are any tactics an' strategical classes, or any classes that'll help me with tactics an' strategics. Ah wanna take some art classes too, ta help me out with that. Ah mean, mah sketches are good, but Ah wanna get bettah with mah painting."
He smiled proudly, as if he were looking at one of his own kids, that is, if he had any. "Wow!!! College freshmen already! Vere does the time go. Vell, you vere always a smart young thing. Like Miss Kitty, though she has decided not to skip grades for some reason." He shrugged. "OOO I haven't seen any of your work in a long time. Do you have anything finished?" He asked.
"A whole sketchbook just about. Here." She lifted the sketchbook from the table and handed it to him, smiling brightly once again. There were tons of sketches in there. Even a few of him.
He pulled his chair away from the table, and rested the sketch book on his lap, after he had grabbed it from where he placed it earlier. He flipped through the book looking at all her drawings quite impressed with them all. He then got to the few of him, and blinked. He had felt good about himself for a good few years now, but well he never thought himself interesting enough for anyone to draw him. "You drew me?" he said softly to himself, but loud enough she could hear if she were paying attention.
He felt a warmth in his heart, and very flattered, as he knew that drawing someone at least meant that the person felt close to that person. While he knew he was well liked, maybe even slightly admired by some, he never thought to much about any of the young ones thinking very highly of him. He looked up a bright smile on his face. "Thank you, it is nice to see what some one else thinks of how I look. You have done well." His eyes shined with tears that would not be shed, but were still there. Yes, he was a sap at times, more sensitive then most men actually. Things touched his heart, and they were seen on his face. He was an easy read.
Paige smiled softly, watching him as he asked her the question. He was easy to read. Especially to someone like her, who watched people as closely as she did. There were al ot of people in this place easy for her to read, and some that were almost impossible. She was glad he liked her sketches. "Ah was hopin' you'd like them. Its not perfect, but its how Ah see you. An' isn't that was art is? Tha perception of tha artist?"
He smiled at her, he reached over the table and hugged her. "Yes, it is, and it is good. I don't quite see myself like this, but it is good to see that others don't see me how sometimes I may see myself." He swallowed. Yes, sometimes he did see himself as a monster still, a bit, but he chose not to think about it much. He knew what was on the inside, and that was good and kind, and if that shone through he couldn't really be that monstrous right?
Paige never thought of him as a monster. If anything, he was an angel in her eyes, because he was always kind and helpful. "Well, Ah see you like that. An' Ah don't see mah perception changin' anytime soon." She smiled, her eyes crinkling slightly at the ends, and returned the hug.
Kurt had, had his day made. However, he was going to have to go soon. He had a summer school class in German he had to get to. "You are a love." He smiled at her, picked up his plate washed it in the sink, turned, and walked back to her and placed a light kiss on her head. "May god bless you always." He then left the kitchen, with a wave, and a mouthed thank you.
Closing her eyes when he kissed her head, Paige chuckled as she watched him head out. "Good luck with yer class, Kurt," she called.
