He looked incredibly sad. He really had no idea how old he was. But it was the easy let down, still hurt, but it was better than nothing. He knew what it really meant though. Chances are Ric would be gone by the time he turned eighteen, which was in December. It was legal in Texas. He couldn't sit in the limo. He wanted to be alone. He didn't want a surprise. He wanted to be left alone. Why would someone flirt like that if the didn't intend for anything to happen. He gently pulled away from Ric and maneuvered to the door. "I'll see you back at the mansion." He said rather listlessly. "I have to take care of something." He lied as he opened the door, and shut it behind him, and ran off into the darkness only leaving a trail of tears behind him.
"H--hey! Gav! Wait!" He called after him, brows knitting, his head spinning in confusion. What was going on? "...shit." he whispered, slouching back against his seat. "Jesus Mary and Joseph, I did not mean for that to happen," he frowned. The great day was ruined. ...and he would have to tell Besty about this. "...Shit." he sighed again, pressing his face into his hands. Poor kid... he'd fucked it all up.
Gavin knew of one place to go. Grandma Sophie. She was the mother figure to all the runaways and street urchins in New York. She lived in an old apartment complex, and she always had a spare blanket. He knocked on her door lightly with silver tears on his cheeks illuminated by the moonlight. She looked through the door and saw it was him and immediately opened it. "Gaveedra? What's wrong." She said as the big lady hugged him and pulled him inside. "C'mon love...talk to Gran, what's wrong?" He just held on tighter. "I know what this is." She whispered. "This is a problem of the heart." She said knowingly as she wiped his eyes with a kleenex. "I'm going to make some tea and we are going to watch Gaveedra TV." She handed him the remote and went to make tea. He started to flip the channels with the occasional sniffle. "Oooh Gavy, we haven't seen that one." She said as she watched him look at it and switch the channel to the next station. She didn't have cable, so there were only three channels, which meant more time on each channel. He smiled sadly. She brought the cup of hot tea to him. "The good thing, is that, out of all the things that get broken, the heart is one that gets stronger every time." She said as she opened the glass candy dish and handed him a few pieces of chocolate. She held him until he fell asleep.
Ric swallowed hard and pulled out the communicator. How the HELL was he to explain this? and now he'd gone running off... "Shit." It seemed to be all he could really get out lately. He steeled himself as he took out the communicator and pressed the button. "...Professor Braddock?" He began quietly. "It all went very well but..." Another deep breath. "...There's a problem..." Was there ever one.
