Gavin watched intently, and did exactly the same thing, except instead of putting the fajita pieces together, Gavin ate them all separately. It was good that way. Weirdo. It didn't take him long to finish off half of his plate. He was hungry. He spoke through mouthfuls. "This is the beast food ever!" He exclaimed as he ate more of his food.
Ric could not help but grin at hearing that, nodding. "It is a favorite... here, try some of my enchiladas," he encouraged, cutting off a bit of this and setting it on the others plate. He leaned in closer to whisper to him then, "You have to be of a certain age in order to order a margarita... you're not quite there yet. that's why he looked at you funny. But you're welcome to have more of mine, just be aware that--you know how beer made you feel fuzzy? This will do that, too." He figured it was only right to warn him.
He ate up the piece of enchilada. So much good food. He would never have a sandwich again. "No more sandwiches for me!" He exclaimed as he finished the food on his plate and took a small sip of the drink. There was still sauce on his plate. He tilted his head back and licked what was left on it, off of it. "Unggyum." He said as he set the plate down with a smile. It really was awesome to him. He had had nothing but sandwiches full of pills and vitamins for years. Not fun and certainly not fajitas.
Rictor chuckled all the more, so glad to see the youth so happy. "Well sandwiches can still be good!" he reminded with a wink. "But just wait, I am not finished yet!" flagging down the server again he ordered sopapillas for the both of them, and the check. "I think you will like these, since you seem so fond of sweet things. By the way, you can take some of those sugar packets if you want to." Not that the kid needed it but well, if it kept him happy... Soon the hot puffy bread was brought to them. "Now with this," Ric explained. "You pinch a hole in the bread like this... then squeeze honey inside." Ric showed Gavin, filling his own pastry with honey before offering the bottle across the table. "Then you eat it!" and he did.
Gavin liked honey he decided as he held the bottle in the air over his head and squirted quite a bit into his mouth. His smile was a happy smile. He was happy, and that was important because he had been unhappy for some while. He copied Ric with the soapapilla he had and covered the top in honey, and poured sugar on that. It didn't take long for him to stuff the whole thing in his mouth. He really needed the etiquette class that Ms.Frost offered. Poor thing. He repeated the process twice more.
He blinked as he watched this, chuckling a she slowly at his own treat. "Like it?" He asked, feeling quite relaxed now as he finished off his drink. This had been a fun day, not at all what he had expected but well.. and there was still one more surprise back at the Manor...
There was another surprise. Had he got him a new pair of boots? "I love it. Perhaps I will have Soap everyday." He said as he leaned back in his chair, and rubbed his stomach. He had eaten too much. Way too much. He sighed. He had way too much fun that day, and now it seemed to be winding down to an end. He was sad to see it happening, but tomorrow was a new day. Perhaps it would be even better? Probably not, but one has to remain optimistic!
"Had your fill?" Ric asked warmly, happy to see him rubbing his belly. He signed the check and left a good tip before he stood. "Come on, let's head home. You've gotta find room in your closet for all your new clothes!"
He smiled as he stood up and grabbed the remainders of the chips and put them in his backpack. He was used to living rough. That was something that would take a while to break. He smiled nervously as he took his assumed place, next to Ric. If he could spend ten minutes a day with Ric, he would be the happiest boy in the world. Perhaps he could be happy? He knew not to expect anything good, as it rarely happened.
