He was ticklish. Something he didn't know, until now. He giggled a hearty laugh as his stomach jumped back. So ticklish that, in fact, when someone threatened to poke him, he laughed. This was a hard choice. What kind of food did he like. "I want a sandwich." No he really didn't, but that was all he every had...that and garbage, but that was something he NEVER talked about. EVER. He shrugged his shoulders.
"A sandwich?" he asked, chuckling and shaking his head. "Oh no amego, we are going to have something better than that for our big day out! Do you like spicy food? I wonder if they have any decent Mexican food around here." He thought as he headed for the mall exit. He was going to give the boy a real dinner.
"A sandwich?" He asked again. "Better than a sandwich?!" He said incredulously, as to him, there was nothing better. Well, except the food at the school that he pigged out on that night when he met Ric. "I like hot food." He said as he followed Ric. He stopped and remembered seeing a mall map, but he wasn't sure what it had on it really. He hadn't had the time to memorize it. "I wonder too..."
Ric started down the sidewalk, keeping a hand on Gavin's back to make sure he did not freak out or run off somewhere. It was a nice evening, even if it was still a bit chilly for Juan's taste. "Ah!" He grinned as he spotted a nice Mexican restaurant. "Here we are, now you can try the food of my people." Rictor beamed as he led the younger inside. It was a nice place with warm, stucco walls, nothing too gaudy or tacky or Ric would probably have spun on his heels and left. They were led to a table near the window, the place smelling of spicy foods. "order whatever you like," he informed Gavin, flashing their server a hopeful grin as he requested, "Un margarita para mí, por favor." Here was hoping he would not be carded...
Gavin had learned these languages, and was grateful. He looked at their server and smiled big. He wasn't really sure what to do, so he would copy Ric. "Hola. Estoy Gavin, y me gustaria tener una soda, por favor." There that wasn't so hard. He told the person his name, and that he wanted a soda. His Spanish was a little rusty. He beamed proudly.
Ric's jaw simply dropped open, he staring wide-eyes at the youth. "You know Spanish?" Oh yes, he was impressed. Much to his surprise, and delight, he was not carded and the server walked away. Rictor was still half staring at Gavin now, but he was smiling a bit.
"Am I not supposed to?" He looked pained. "Oh...I trucked it up again." He said as he became visibly upset as he hollered for the waiter to come back. "I know English. Come back, I was just kidding." He said frantically worried that he had scared the man off. He would simply bring him back. "I'm hungry too. See." He said as he lifted his shirt for everyone to see.
"No no no!" Ric said quickly, his eyes glittering as he tried to calm the youth again. "No it's great that you know Spanish--he's getting you your drinks. calm down amego, and put your shirt down." His words were all gentle and a chuckle rumbled in his throat. "Just sit, relax. He'll come back and we'll order food then." This kid was a hand full. A very very amusing hand full.
It wasn't his fault. He had never been out to eat before. He smiled bashfully as he sat back down in his chair. "I'm soggy." He said as he sat down in his chair and looked at the small white packets of sugar. He liked sugar. "Yum." He said as he grabbed packets of sugar and began to eat the sugar inside of them. "Yummmm." He was a goofy one alright. He would learn in time the societal norms he was expected to abide by, but now, he was having fun. He was a quick learner too. He wouldn't want to be a handful.
Rictor just let him go, smiling as his eyes glittered. He thought about getting him some candy on the way home, but he was sure it would be gone too fast. Not like the kid wasn't hyper enough as it was! Candy would wait 'till later. "Does anything on the menu look good to you, or should I tell you what I most like?"
