Ric watched this with a knitted brow. Wow... this kid... was something else. He stepped forward and reached to lightly pat his head. "Stay here ok? I'll be right back." He felt like he was Christmas shopping for his nephews. He would just go in and find a good deal on a TV and grab a few games and get those sent to his room. It could be a surprise, and Gavin surely did not seem picky about what kind of TV he wanted. "Hmm," he mused as he looked at the wall of televisions. He had soon spotted a wide screen 26" flat screen on sale and yes, he checked.. it had a remote. "Ok, one down." he murmured as he moved through the store, beaming as he found a Wii in stock and also took that to the counter. He started going through the games before he frowned and headed to where he had left Gavin again. "Hey, do you like... farming?" It sounded like a very silly question, really.
Gavin was zoned out. He liked the 38 inch TV. It was big, flat, had HD hookups, a wall mount, LED lights, and came with a remote. He loved that TV perhaps when he got a job he could come back and get it. "I don't like farming. It is hard working." He said as he stared at the TV and changed the channels. He turned up the volume a little so he could hear better. A small group of people had come up behind him. He didn't like that so he got up, went behind the TV and turned it around so that only he could watch it. Teach them to tell him how to watch TV.
Ric was still fighting down a smile, this was a mess. He considered the bigger TV, then looked at the communicator. Would Betsy want him to get the bigger one? It was kind of excessive... He spun on his heel and informed the elated salesman to change out the TV for a 30" model. Not quite so big, but still more than big enough. Okay, that was done. He soon headed to the counter with a number of different games including FPS's, Okami, the sword playing game, and a workout game. Gavin was sure to like at least one of those. He also picked up an inexpensive DVD player, figuring Gavin could pick out movies he wanted to watch later. He quietly paid for the items and told them to watch for the truck to load it all in to. Now.. food. "Hey Gav, they ran out of TV's," he said with a mock sadness, shoulders slouching. "We'll have to come back and get one another day." That should give the kid a nice surprise when he got back to his room. "Want to go get something to eat instead?"
He looked sad. Incredibly sad, but then he got an idea. He unplugged the TV he was watching, and began to pull it behind him , by the cord. It took a minute for him to register his actions. "Thief." He said as he pushed the TV back and went to stand next to Ric. Gavin raised his shirt and looked at his stomach. He really was thin, and didn't look like he could pick up five tons. Goes to show that looks aren't everything. He smiled and nodded. "I like food." He said with a touch of excitement. He hadn't had many of the crackers or cheese, so it was time for something to eat.
It took a few moments for what was going on to process to Rictor. He took a step forward, eyes wide one finer extended when Gavin realized his own actions. Breathing a sigh of relief, he nodded as he stepped closer to the youth. "I promise we'll get you a TV soon, you have my word," he said with a smile. He chuckled as he pulled that shirt up, shaking his head. He really was an odd duck, and Ric found himself suddenly growing fond of it. He reached out to poke that exposed belly with a smile, nodding. "Come on, anything you're in the mood for? What's your favorite food?"
