Who: Logan + Paige NPCs: (OPTIONAL) When: Friday morning Where: Xavirs What: Danger room session Paige husks into her Crystal form for the first time. Rating & Warnings: "PG"
It was Friday morning and due to the fact, that Paige had been lapse as far as Danger room work outs were concerned, Logan was on the prowl. He lifted his head and sniffed a bit and found exactly where her scent was coming from. It didn’t matter to him what she was doing, if she was busy in another class, and as she did not make it to the last session she was not going to be given the chance to miss this one. Up the hallway and into the science block he went, past most of the labs and then into the computer suite. He walked right up to where Paige was sitting, quietly so as not to disturb anyone, but then plonked a huge hand on the girl’s slim shoulder.
“Yer eyes are gonna end up square if ya keep staring at that thing all day long,” came out in a growly amused tone of voice, as his hand moved and turned the computer off, without any regard to what she may have or may not have been doing. Mind you it was with the knowledge that Paige was so good on computers even if he had switched off something important, she’d know just how to fish it out next time she logged on.
“Danger room now Munchkin.” No she did not have any choice in the matter, and if she did not agree too it there and then, well Logan had no need to restrain the compulsion to lift her up, sling her over his shoulder and carry her down there screaming and shouting.
Just hearing his voice had her shivering, and the feel of his large hand on her small shoulder made her swallow. Was she scared of Logan? No. Not in the slightest. This was something completely different... and completely embarrassing if he decided to take a sniff to the new scent in the air. She'd missed her last Danger Room session for the same reason she'd missed her Acrobatics class with Kurt. Because she'd passed out due to exhaustion from not sleeping.
His voice never did fail to make her hot under the collar. That deep, gravelly, animalistic growl that he had just always rubbed her a certain way. So as to not try to embarrass herself any further, she stood and apologized to the teacher sitting there, excusing herself with a nod as she left with Logan. "Ah'm sorry, Logan. Ah just haven't been sleepin' lately. Ah kinda fell asleep..." It wasn't usual behavior from the blonde, so she could understand why Logan physically came to get her.
Logan chose really to ignore the scent that was creeping around in the air, giving the room a quick look around to see whom maybe causing it, which really gave cause to an irritated growl to go drifting out of his mouth. Girls. Came to mind, why the hell any of them had to grow up he didn’t know, but he did know, that none of the boys in the room were good enough for this particular little blonde cub. Though to be fair, no one was ever good enough for any of the kids Logan had any kind of affinity with, so his thoughts really should not be that much of a surprise. Oblivious, of it was his growling that had caused the change in her scent, which was a good thing as Logan trying to have heart to heart talks with anyone about that sort of stuff, just did not work in the slightest.
“Bad dreams again?” He asked when he got over the need to growl, and led her from the room, heading towards the elevator that led down to the basement. “Ya know that yer still welcome to come on down to the boat house Paige,” because the only cure he’d found for nightmares was being close to someone who’s scent sort of tossed them away. Only since Rogue had came to the mansion, Logan had sort of been less available, he’d lost memories, forgotten that Sam had asked him to keep his eye out for Paige and really the close bond that he had had with Paige before that time had kind of dwindled. Healing factors could cause all kind of problems and his seemed to mess with things in a huge way. Though obviously he remembered odd bits and pieces but not a whole lot.
They got to the elevator, and then he did turn and look her square in the face, rather than growling out stuff as they walked, “ya need to maybe take some time out from school and go visit home fer a bit kiddo?”
Paige shrugged. When Rogue had showed up, she had taken a backseat to Logan, and that was just how it had been. She'd made her peace with it and had gone about her business. And then she'd started with this damn crush that would only get her in trouble and things had gone from uncomfortable to horrible. It would figure wouldn't it? And when he growled in annoyance, she knew that scent just shot right back up to dangerous levels. Trying to tamp it down, she concentrated on what he was saying.
"Oh, um... just a couple, really." She was lying, and he probably knew that, but she didn't want him to think she was a weakling without him. He'd obviously found someone else to curb his nightmares, now she just had to do the same. "Ah just thought Ah'd stay back... wouldn't wanna interrupt anything, ya know? Ah'll... Ah'll be fine. Ah just gotta deal with them, right?" She scratched the back of her neck, that nervous gesture. Both at being so close to him in a confined space (stupid arousal) and for trying to convince him she was okay.
"Ah'll be fine, Logan. Don't worry about me. Ah'm a big girl now. If Ah leave now Ah'll fall behind... mah finals are comin' up." her freshman finals... she'd gotten lucky and hadn't packed on the freshman fifteen. It was because she was such a health nut most of the time. Except when it came to food. "Ah'll be okay." Her soft, small hand reached out to settle against his forearm as she offered him a soft smile, trying to reassure both of them.
Well Logan had always had Jubilee, who did chase the nightmares off, but that was kind of sticky ground at the moment, so sleeping was not something he’d been doing a whole lot of either. Not that he needed it, but at times it did make for him to be in a better mood. The scent he realized had came on strong once more and he felt the need to crack his neck and not pay so much attention to what she was smelling like that that particular moment. Though he didn’t need to be sniffing her scent to realize she was talking a whole lot of bull crap. Hence a fanged grin wandered onto his lips, “don’t try talking that old story with me Munchkin, yer know,” getting in her face slightly, in a mock playful way that really mocked himself more as he tended to do it when starting to get angry with someone. “Ya can’t lie to save yer life.”
She had a point about her finals though, so more to appease himself, rather than anything Paige had said, he told her, rather than asked because that was pretty much how Logan went about doing things, “yer coming on down to the boathouse after this session and I’m cooking ya some lunch after yer had a nap on the couch. No arguing, and then we’ll go through a few of the math stuff and ya’ll still be working, but ya won’t be working and fretting and don’t argue with me,” coming out just as the elevator doors opened.
Which seemed to prompt him to reach out and hold her hand, much as he used to do when she was younger and then led her into the elevator. It didn’t take too long for it to arrive at the sub basement, “suit up, I’ll work out an easier program ya don’t need to be tossed in the deep end if yer working on limited sleep.”
"Logan, Ah'm not a baby. A few nightmares shouldn't keep me from workin' on mah husks, an' Ah need to," she sighed, looking down at their hands as another bit of arousal flared up. The thought that Logan hadn't exactly seen her in the leathers lately crossed her mind... and she looked a lot different in them now than she did last time he'd seen her. After all, she'd filled out quite nicely and leather worked for her.
“Ya keep on thinking that way Munchkin,” he chuckled out, as they got out of the elevator and his hand slipped from hers. “Some of use know yer always gonna be a baby, which reminds me. Heard from Sam, he’s heading on back come the next week.” Which really would not be news to Paige, but Logan felt the need to let her know there were a few folk out there that no matter how old she became she was still going to be seen as the little girl that used to run around with her hair in bunches and seem to be somewhat separate to the rest of the world around her, as well Sunshine had once upon been the name he used for her. A gap in her teeth, a smile always on her face, yeah, he had no clue why the nickname had changed actually now he came to think about it.
“Get on down and hurry it up, we got the danger room fer an hour session and I’ll think over maybe keeping the level up,” actually she’d made him think, and honestly, if she was tired, and he did know she had not been training as often as she should have been, well it be better to push her now. Make sure that no matter what a weakened state she was in, she could at least still defend herself.
Paige was smart. She knew now was definitely the time to push herself. "Go on in an' set tha level. Ah'll suit up. Just try not ta treat me like a baby? Ah'm not one." She knew Sam was on his way back. It was in the phone call she got from him before. But to have Logan referring to her as always being a baby... it had her on edge.
He went into the war room first, checked what he’d set up, and did change a good few things. Only instead of down grading it, he upgraded it. Time to push her, see how many Husks she could go through, it was an impossible scenario really, but one he’d had in mind a while ago, just to really see if she could keep the husking up and going, no matter what was tossed at her. There were no big villains due to appear, no rampaging sentinels, but more than enough to make Paige think and use that big old brain of hers, hurdles to over come and battles to be fought that were not the kind she could win and would therefore enforce her to think of different ways of going about things.
After he’d set it up, he went into the danger room, because if she got in trouble, and if she thought she could stand around and fight any of these little scenarios he was going to have to kick her ass, to make her think instead of act. Which honestly with Paige was not usually an issue. She tended to think quickly and work out what she could do and what she could not, so he was not all to worried but the safety protocols were on limited. Therefore, she could get hurt slightly if she didn’t use her brain, something he would point out when she got back on in there.
She zipped up the leathers, letting her hair down. It was easier to use as a weapon that way, The waves fell down around her shoulders and down to the middle of her back as the click of her boots sounded out her arrival into the Danger Room. The leathers were a perfect fit... enhancing all the right places.
Logan turned his head as Paige entered, and let out a faint ‘guh’ like sound. Okay, he knew she was getting older, but he had not been expecting to see what he did when she had came into the room. Images of a little girl were truly needed at that moment, needed and implanted in his head. Also made him realize he needed to get his ass out of the school and actually go on something other than a drinking soiree with Kurt. Not that he needed that filling his head at that precise moment either though. Why was it when they got to this kind of age it was so damn difficult remembering they were kids? Sure he could latch onto her scent and he got the cub thing going, but it was getting faint, much like Jubilee and cub status had gone flying out the window a good six months ago, it pretty much seemed to Logan, Paige was heading the same way. Be another one he’d be avoiding for a while till he could figure out how the hell the react whilst around them.
“Yer sure ya got yer suit on Paige?” He muttered out but was not looking at her when he said it, and quickly moved on, “put safety protocols to limited, aim of the game is think quick react and use the Husk that best fit’s the situation. The mission is to get to the other side of the room, without getting injured, its not to defeat all the villains, and its not to fight till ya drop. Ya ready fer that?” He’d given her all he was going too, he’d wait for her to confirm she understood and then the program would start up when he gave the room the command.
If he started avoiding her now, that would be a problem for her. Especially since he seemed to be seeking her out now. Nodding her understanding, she crouched down low in order to get a good attack stance. Not necessarily to attack, but to bound out of the way should there be any unexpected shots. She retained Logan's teachings... he should be proud. And then the first shots came and she was gone.
Logan kept an eye on her, made sure that there were more than enough hurdles, sure there were ninja’s chasing around after her, but they were more there to cause a distraction, they would not catch her, but they kept jumping out blocking her path, and tossing various kinds of weaponry at her. She ran forward and she got to a ditch, three sides were covered with razor wire, and there was a small gap towards the west, where there were two of the ninja like assailants at the moment they had not seen her, but the bots never took too long to work out where someone was, or this really wouldn’t be the danger room. One, two, three minutes and they were heading towards her. “Time to do what yer codename says Munchkin,” came over the ear piece, though really Logan knew all he was doing was going to aid in distracting her, but again that was all part of it.
She took what he said with a nod and ripped at the suit, water appearing in a swift wave that had her sliding through the gap and assailants with relative ease. They were coming at her quickly now, and she was having to go through at least two more husks to make it over. And then a fourth... and she knew she was wearing thin.
Logan forgot for a few minutes what he was aiming on achieving here as he growled to himself about forgetting about the whole damn ripping stuff. How the hell he’d done so, he had no clue, but seeing her in that damn leather was not exactly sitting too easy on his mind at the moment. As long as she kept up the husking, everything was going to be fine? Yeah, right fine. No more wondering about anything else, he was beginning to freak himself out. “Munchkin, yer read outs telling me ya getting tired,” which didn’t mean the room was going to let up on her, and then it came the big one, the one that always made her pause, fire and lots of it, well over the top was never a problem as far as Logan was concerned. Fire wall, something that was always in the advanced programs, which sometimes she could use her rubber husk to get over, but she’d used that already so it was time to see if she could pull something else out that would deal with it. Only visible around the top was a blue light, meaning electricity too.
She pulled at her skin once more, eyes determined as she started down the fire. There'd be no rubber this time. She was going for adamantium... something she'd learned after studying a piece of Logan's bone structure. Only what came out wasn't adamantium. What came out was a crystalline form she'd never husked before. It was bouncing the lights off into the room, blinding any normal person who would have been there. But Paige was determined to get out of here, so she ran full blast... through the wall of fire and right into the wall on the other end, where she sunk to her hands and knees.
The contact with the wall beyond, got everything turning off, the room once more simply being a room. Logan’s eyes did not react like other peoples, due to his mutation, the dazzling light did for a second distract him and have him considering shutting down the program, but he figured if she was really in trouble, she’d have said so. Though when the daze stopped and the room was once more as it should be, his eyes were looking right at her. He’d seen a dragon this week, which had made him feel all kinds of things he couldn’t remember ever feeling, and now he was looking at a crystal Paige. Seemed this week was going to be one he would remember for some time. Mouth falling open and he was not even looking at her full on. Animal really taking over and the need to sniff to see what came back was upon him, as he began to walk towards her. Got there and he was still quiet, normally he’d have something to say, but not this time.
Her head was down, shoulders heaving with labored breaths. Her hair moved like hair, but it wasn't. Her body moved like a body, but it wasn't. And when her head rose to look up at Logan with what should have been wide blue eyes that were a little freaked, all it was crystal opaque. "Logan?"
Logan was not there at the moment, well okay technically he was, but he was not actually responding. Instead he was somewhat bewitched by her appearance and reached out and actually poked her firmly. At least it was in the rib area rather than anywhere he’d later regret. After poking her though, his hand opened up and he lay the palm flat against her shoulder blades. A confused but fascinated look upon his features. His other hand lifted and sort of pulled itself down heavily over his face as he squat down and looked into her face. Realizing she must have said something, and his mouth was open and nothing was coming out of it, the hand on her back moved as finger tips lightly followed the curve of her now crystalline face. “Yeah … sorry kind of …” nope words were not coming out too easily, and what he did say sounded more like a growl anyway.
She didn't know if her scent carried underneath this form. She sincerely hoped not... because the coupling of his hands on her and his voice coming out in a growl did very bad (okay... not so bad) things to her. She reached up with one hand, fingers sliding over his wrist. She'd need some sort of covering soon.
Well her scent was there, but it wasn’t. All her husks tended to mask her scent, so in this case both her and Logan were lucky, because if he’d sniffed anything well he may well have reacted in a less than appropriate way. As was though, he still seemed more than transfixed, his hand slipped down her arm, as she reached it out and he cocked his head to the side, his eyes really not having left her face, which again was a good thing because naked crystal looking Paige was not something he needed to be thinking of all too much. Only then he just sort of dipped his head and licked the side of her face, which was followed by another confused sounding growl. Didn’t taste like Paige, it was cold when it should be warm, or so he thought due to her running through fire, but no cold. Tempted to lick again as the animal was more to the forefront at the moment, he shook his head and finally snapped back in more. Taking her hand, he pulled himself up to his feet, and then went about pulling her up, “ya did well, new husk.” Came out of his mouth, as if nothing had occurred that should not have.
"Y-Yeah... can y-you um... get me a-a-a um... sweats. Can ya get me sweats?" she asked, stuttering considerably. Damn it. Logan was going to be the death of her.
For a moment his brow furrowed, and he gruffed out, “why?” As again his brain had gone off to lalala land and he didn’t actually want all the crystal to be covered up. It was truly a beautiful sight to look at, all the more so as even though Paige had problems seeing herself as anything but plain, she truly was far from such. He was kind of fighting a loosing battle there mind you, and knew he needed to cut it out, for a moment it seemed he was not going to do a damn thing but stand there staring at her only then he did actually move. “Sure, sorry Munchkin, ya kind of blew my mind with that one.” Beginning to walk away and walk away a little more quickly than was needed, or it may seem so, but sure as hell wasn’t as far as Logan was thinking at that precise moment. He got to the door, opened it up and went down to the locker room, fetched her, her sweats and came back in.
By the time he was coming in, Paige was leaning against the wall by her hands, head down, back to Logan. The crystal was beginning to peel off due to her lack of energy, which was no doubt making that heavily aroused scent a little more noticeable.
It was, only it was having an effect on Logan too. Something he needed to actually ignore, before it became apparent, as tight jeans did not tend to leave a lot to the imagination. Lucky really he had a huge sloppy old t-shirt on, but nothing was going on that he felt needed to be hidden at the moment. Though his more animal side was wondering if the scent was due to the crystal, so when he reached her and then went about dropping the clothes on the floor the need to get right up close to her, and sniff just over took him. “Paige …” got itself growled out, in a confused way first but it was followed by another growl as he decided he needed to get that bit closer and then found himself licking a part of her skin that was beginning to become more visible, and then a piece of the crystal, and went to and fro from them both for a few minutes. This was not good, and he needed to remind himself that to act like such was unforgivable. Only he was also fighting the wolf’s need to be curious and try to figure it all out, which never worked all too well. Another lick followed, but then he did move and get himself standing way over the other side of the room. “Sorry.” Got growled out, and it got itself growled out in a tone that more than said he wasn’t and that he knew if she did that again he’d be acting pretty much the same way as he just had.
Her muscles rippled under the feel of his rough tongue and she shuddered, a small, soft moan leaving her mouth as well as a whimper when he pulled back. Oh this was not good. She usually had more control over herself than this. But then he was growling at her and she couldn't help it and the crystal was steadily dropping to the floor. Bending down, she picked up the pants and slid them on, tying the drawstring. No underwear underneath was not a good thing right now. Not in the slightest. Her hand snaked out to grab the top and she slipped it over her shoulders as the last of the crystal dropped to the ground, letting it hang there and zipping it up slowly.
Logan needed a beer and a cigar, even if it were too damn early for the beer. Only he’d told her he was going to take her down to the boat house and whilst now didn’t seem like it be a very good idea, especially from his point of view, he still had enough brain function going on, to know that she actually needed to be made to sleep. Yes she’d be tired, because doing that many Husks in that short a time span would make her so, but he knew she’d not be sleeping as she’d push herself, and push herself that little bit more, having herself in class if he let her go. “Shower up Munchkin and get yerself dressed, then its down to the boathouse fer a nap.” If she trusted him to actually do that now or not was another matter. He was over it, or hopefully he was, because he could not see her husking into crystal Paige again for a good while, but how to tell her? Now that was another matter and not one he was willingly going to try and explain. Hopefully Paige would let it drop, ignore it, and they’d both be good again, if not, then he’d be damned if he could actually explain his behaviour away in the slightest.
She looked a little dejected and her shoulders slumped, but she nodded and turned to head out, running a hand through her tousled hair. Who was she fooling anyway? It wasn't like she was anywhere near Logan's type. Hell, she'd been single in this place long enough to know that she wasn't anyone's type. Even Jono hadn't wanted her.
Whether she was Logan’s type or not, at that moment didn’t really matter a whole lot to him. He was confused as hell still, and was preoccupied with looking at the left over Husk on the floor, he did however pull his eyes from it as Paige walked past, and wondered what was going on in that head of hers. He could smell the mood she’d seemed to have fallen into, and put it down to her fatigue having set in. Having really no clue about anything else, as if he had, he’d have done the whole ‘you are beautiful’ standard lecture type stuff that teachers were meant to do when they thought a student had a crush on them and then there’d be the ‘but …’ stuff. Only with Logan doing those kind of lectures, he never knew what to shove in the but place, and this time, well he sure as hell would not have anything to put there. As the truth was definitely not something that was ever going to come out of his mouth.
She stood under the spray for awhile, using her own body wash - a subtle raspberry vanilla scent - to wash the sweat away. Things were not going to be easy, but that was just how it was. Drying her hair, she left it down and dressed in a pair of jogging pants and a tank, then made her way with her things as ordered.
He was stood with his back leaning against the wall and pulled himself away when she reappeared. Once more thankfully in complete control of his behaviour, he reached out and tugged her things from her. “Can carry that fer ya,” he stated and tucked it all under one arm, as his other took her hand again as if she were a little girl. It felt more normal and as long as he remembered the little girl, then the other stuff was going to get itself more than washed away by his healing factor, because he really didn’t need to be confused all about Paige as well as Jubilee, which he was still trying to deal with, but unfortunately his healing factor never really helped those kind of things, and it never made any thing all too easy. It would make one decision vanish and leave him in the same place he’d been when he first realized that things were no longer as easy as they should be. They got to the elevator and it opened up near on the moment they arrived there. “Ya need anything else?” He asked, but was in two minds if he was going to let her go sneaking off, because he was sure she’d get herself right back into a class.
"Umm... Ah left mah... Ah left mah laptop," she replied, shaking her head. "lemme go get it." She needed to get out of here. She couldn't be here. Not so close to him.
“Nah,” he said, “if yer need to use a laptop ya can use mine as one little Munchkin is going to go down to the boathouse and get some sleep, and I’m figuring if I let ya go fetch the laptop, I’m not going to be seeing ya fer a few days.” That answered he just tightened his grip on her hand and started off towards the main reception area and the way out. He’d rode the Harley up there, so they could both ride it back down as far as he was concerned. She was not going to go and disappear that easily, specially when he had no intention of letting her get away with doing any more school work till the afternoon anyway.
She couldn't get out of his grasp, and when she saw the Harley her eyes widened. "C-couldn't we walk instead?" She couldn't get on that bike. That damn bike was a source for many, many fantasies in the little blonde's head. She couldn't get on it with him. Not after that spectacle in the Danger Room.
Logan was clueless and turned his head looking directly into her clear blue eyes, “don’t be daft, its raining, yer wanna go down there and get soaked through just because yer don’t wanna get on the hog?” Not that he minded getting soaked through yet again, but really just no, not now, riding the bike would get them down there faster, and the quicker they were down there the sooner he hoped that Paige would get some sleep. Basically pulling her towards the Harley then and finally letting go of her hand, he put her belongings in the saddle bags that near on continuously hung over the back end of the Harley and looked at her once more, before he climbed on. “Move it Munchkin, and I promise I won’t ride it too fast, that make yer feel better?”
The rain was going to get her soaked... and she'd be willing to bet he looked good wet. This ride would be fast, she prayed... and swung her leg over the seat. Sliding forward to wrap her arms around him, she closed her eyes and laid her face against his back. Just sitting on this thing made her all hot and bothered. Jesus, Paige, stop it!! This won't do!! "Let's go."
Lets go was said, and the engine was flicked on and the bike came to live, vibrating and purring as it did. Not really the kind of thing that Paige needed at that moment, but it got Logan concentrating on what he was doing, rather than allowing images of crystal Paige to go wandering into his head and then crystal Paige holding onto him from the rear, as yes, didn’t need to think too much about that again, nor the scent that crystal Paige had. He was seriously going to have to re think a whole lot of stuff, as his behaviour lately was not something he was all too proud of. The Harley started to move and they were on their way.
The Harley itself was already causing problems, but Paige remained quiet, mentally telling herself that she'd excuse herself to the bathroom after they got off this thing. If she'd known he was only thinking of her in her crystal form, well, she didn't know whether she'd be flattered or disappointed... which meant it was probably a good thing she didn't know.
Logan really couldn’t help it, the scent had kind of smacked him in the face, and as there was no one else present, his mind had latched onto it, and his wolf had been drawn out and had prowled around. Hence mind linking the scent more to crystal Paige rather than simply Paige and of course it was then so much easier to except the way he’d reacted to it. Which of course made everything far more simpler as far as Logan’s way of thinking about things were concerned. He caught a whiff on the air though, caught it and put it away, didn’t need to let himself get carried away, with what he was now putting down as ‘imaginary’ scents. Held his head up a little to let the air go brushing over his face and therefore stop her scent from drifting up too him. With in about five minutes though they were down at the boathouse and the engine was being turned off once more. He was soaked through, but Logan being Logan, he really couldn’t careless about it, and soon got off the bike. “Ya need a bit of hand Paige?” He asked as he went about tugging some of her things back out of the saddlebags, and waited to see if she wanted him to lift her off.
She raised her hand, silently asking him to give her a minute. She just needed to catch her breath was all... and she could do that. And she did do that. Swinging one long leg over the seat, the soaked blonde turned to make her way into the boathouse, cursing herself for letting herself be this stupid.
Logan just frowned a little, but stood to the side making sure she got off without any mishaps, and then trailed along behind her, hopping on one foot, then the other as he removed his boots before entering the house. When he was in there he put her things on a table in the entrance way and went about tugging off the t-shirt he had on as it was wet, and he didn’t want to take it upstairs when he went and got a clean one. T-shirt was taken to the kitchen, as he asked, “yer want to go up and see if there’s something in one of the spare rooms ya can wear then I’ll dry off yer stuff, rain’s meant to stop later in the day.”
Turning, she came to a halt and sighed. This man was trying to kill her. She was damn sure of it. "Yeah. Ah'll um... Ah'll go up an look," she replied. Seriously... she honestly thought he was trying to kill her. That was all she could come up with. All the growling, the touching... the LICKING. God, that tongue on her was just sinful and he'd left her wet. Thank God for showers.
He tossed his t-shirt into the washing machine, picked up a dry pair of jeans from the pile of clean clothes, and then ferreted through it to see if there was another t-shirt to wear. Which thankfully there was. That was grabbed next and shoved on the top of the washing machine, as he stripped off and shoved the jeans in with the wet t-shirt and got himself dressed once more. Flicked the machine on because he could just put Paige’s in the dryer and he was done. He strolled back out of the laundry room into the kitchen and yelled loudly, “Paige do ya want a hot drink?” As he was putting on the kettle anyway and was thinking of actually making her drink something like hot chocolate then maybe she’d get a touch of the sleepy all that more quicker.
She wanted something hot alright... but right now she was busy. She'd come down in a moment. ((Logan should totally hear very wrong sounds *snickers* )) When she finally was finished, she found a dry t-shirt and a pair of shorts and slid them on, bringing her clothes downstairs and tossing them into the dryer.
“Oh man.” Got mumbled out of his mouth, when he heard what kind of sounds were drifting down the stairs to meet his ears. So maybe he really should not have brought her down here? Maybe the crystal husk had had the same strange kind of effect on Paige as it had on him? Hell if he knew and he sure as hell was not going to ask. He’d been doing his best to actually avoid female company since he was trying to figure out things with Jubilee, and this just brought it to the forefront of his mind that he really, really needed to just give up, let his more natural instincts take over and go off for the weekend and pick up some random stranger and get it all out of his system. He could feel a twitch going on where he didn’t want to feel any such thing going on and was considering having a really cold shower, but figured by the time that Paige came back down that would all be over and done with. It kind of ways, kind of wasn’t and the fact that the shorts she was wearing were very short and very tight, just made him realize that going without when you worked in a place full of beautiful teenage girls that were beginning to become young woman, was not the best of ideas whatsoever. His eyes lingered on her legs a little too long as far as he was concerned, made him cough and decide she was going to have a mug of hot chocolate. “Cold out here Paige, get on in the living room and I’ll bring the drink on in to ya.”
She nodded, quietly, turning to pick up her things from the table. Sitting down on the couch, she opened up one of her books and dug into her bag for a pen so she could get to studying for these finals coming up.
It gave her something to focus her mind on. Gave her something to take up the time and keep her awake and keep her from noticing how Logan's muscles rippled underneath that shirt. Kept her from noticing how he smelled or looked and everything that came with him. Yes sir... just keep on staying focused on the book, Paige Elisabeth. The book will set you free.
She may well have a book to set her free, only Logan merely had a kettle that was beginning to boil and the knowledge that his head was going to be full of those sounds she was making and her scent whilst she was doing such. Which really was not helping keeping him all too level headed at the moment. Drinks were made though and he brought them in. Placing them both on the coffee table, cocking his head to the side as he realized what she was doing, “heck no.” Came out of his mouth as he snatched the book away from her, “none of that yer can do all that later when I know ya had a bit of a sleep and had some healthy food inside of ya,” his eyes slipping once more to her legs, which got him to grab a throw that was resting over one of the armchairs and then place it over her. Keeping the book well out of her reach before moving away and putting it on top of the bookcase, which was too tall for Paige to reach and get it off of. “Going to light the fire, pull the curtains over and get some you will sleep music going on.” He said when he turned his head towards her and gave her a fang filled grin.
Paige was all set to argue her case, ready to say she needed to study and that she couldn't possibly sleep right then... but then he turned to her and he was grinning and... for a split second... Paige saw those fangs sliding into her flesh. She swallowed, then had to give her head a shake. "Logan... Ah need mah book. Ah cain't sleep right now," she replied, moving to stand and heading to the bookcase. She'd climb the fucker if need be.
“What yer need is a sleep,” came out of his mouth, and he wrapped his arms around her as she went to walk past him, kept her held firmly and it was in pretty in an innocent way really. Playful, and not meaning any kind of ill minded stuff, “told yer, yer going to sleep and ya will, a tired mind never won any awards and yer know what?” He said as he lightly then rested the side of his face next too hers after he’d heaved her up so her feet were no longer on the ground, “yer going to pass without any more of this damn studying, not saying ya need to stop all day, just fer a few hours.”
"Ah just need ta make sure Ah pass, Logan," she sighed, defeated. As far as Paige was concerned, she was the smart one in her family. If she weren't, she just kind of blended in all around. In her family, in Xavier's mansion... Paige didn't want to fade into the background anymore.
She’d never been in the background really, not that he knew that was how her mind was working, or he’d have told her such. “Ya will Paige,” he was confident she would, and it came over easily in his voice, as he soon had her cradled in his arms and was carrying her right back to the couch. “Only yer gonna make ya’self burn out if ya keep this on and on without any kind of a rest.” Placing her back on the couch extremely gently and then kneeling on the ground looking into her face, “I’ll help ya study more in the afternoon, but fer now, yer sleeping and if ya get up again, I’ll grab ya hold lie on down there with ya and sing ya off to sleep, like I used too when yer were a whole lot younger than ya are now.”
"An' if Ah cain't sleep? What then?" she asked, her stubborn streak determined to shine through.
“Ya can watch me sleep and laugh.” He said with another grin creeping onto his face, as he reached out and picked up the mug of hot chocolate and handed it to her. “I’m lighting the fire, sometimes the burning logs’ll help to get ya in a sleepy state of mind.” Pulling himself back up, he went over to the curtains first and pulled them shut, not that it mattered much considering just how dark and dreary the day beyond them actually was. Then he sat down in front of the huge open fire and began to get it ready.
Sighing in defeat again, Paige rolled her eyes and grabbed the blanket, stretching out. "Fine. Ah'll nap. But Ah swear if Ah wake up screamin' yer tha first person Ah'm hittin’.” She muttered.
“Why’d ya think yer’d be screaming?” He asked as he went about setting the logs and then lighting the fire. When it was done he moved back and sat on the floor, his back resting up against the couch Paige was lying upon. “Yer think the nightmares forgotten that together we can pretty much chase them away?” It was said lazily, and as he said it, one of his arms lifted up and stretched out over his head, his hand easily finding one of hers and holding it softly. “And I ain’t going nowhere so figuring that yer’ll end up with sore hands.”
"Yeah well, its been a long time, Logan. Ah dunno if tha nightmares care anymore," she answered honestly, looking at their hands.
“Then I’m guessing we’ll find out together won’t we.” He said, reaching his other arm out and picking up the cup of coffee he had, that really would not do a damn thing because if Paige fell asleep, he’d nod off anyway. As he knew his nightmares would not come back, but there was no saying if hers would or if they would not. “If they do then you got someone right on here with ya when they’re still fresh in your mind and you don’t want to open your eyes just in case when you do they’re not the dreams you hoped they were.”
"Ah suppose we will," she whispered, watching his face now even though she couldn't get a clear shot. Squeezing his hand, Paige sighed. "Ah'm sorry fer earliah. In tha Dangah Room an' aftah. An' fer tryin' ta get outta comin' down here."
He gulped the coffee down, trying to avoid having to mention his own behaviour as far as the danger room was concerned. Didn’t really help though so when he’d drank it all he put the mug down and slipped his hand from hers, getting up and slipping down onto the huge couch beside her, mumbling out in a growly voice, “budge up, and no saying sorry Munchkin, ya do it means I got to, and I don’t like lying all too much.” Which said he wasn’t sorry about how he acted and was not going to apologize for it. He basically at the moment was in that place that Logan often got himself stuck in, his wolf side was more than fine with what he’d done, his human side was not sure if was okay or not, but he couldn’t careless because he’d liked it, therefore, wrong or not, he’d done it, he’d enjoyed it, and he was not sorry it had happened.
Blinking, she moved to give him room and then turned on her side to face him. "Yer not sorry?" she asked, obviously a little surprised. Lord knew that she hadn't expected that in the slightest. But, at the same time, it was a nice surprise, and she was honestly glad to hear it. Maybe she wasn't so stupid after all?
Dark chocolate brown eyes, met hers, “no.” He said in a don’t ask me any more type voice, because I’m not going to answer you. His arm then went around her shoulders, making a pillow out of itself, his hand resting lightly on her upper arm. He may well when he figured it all out some more, feel ashamed but he would not feel sorry. Arching his neck a little he placed a soft kiss on her forehead, “do ya want me to be?” Got asked, as he moved his other arm and placed it over the arm of the couch and beneath his own head.
Biting her lip, Paige shook her head. "No. Ah don't." All she wanted was to be able to kiss him, but then again, he probably wouldn't like that, despite the fact. Still, she couldn't help but run those big blue eyes over his face, lingering on his eyes, his nose... his lips longer than anything else.
He really should not have asked that, because it was threatening to make everything he was trying to kick out of his head, linger there all the longer. She was looking at him, he was looking at her, and for a moment he was not thinking all too much about what he should or should not be doing, and she nearly got what she wanted. Only the moment he began to move towards a more intimate type kiss, something kicked off in his mind, and he stopped himself. “Go to sleep.” Got itself growled out in place of anything else, and he promptly shut his eyes, not that he was sleeping but if they were shut, he couldn’t look, and if he couldn’t look, then he’d be just fine and dandy.
Her body had tensed up when he began to move closer, and then he stopped and growled at her and she sighed, closing her eyes and turning back over. He needed her to go to sleep. So she'd try. She could do that, she hoped.
It was all too easy for Logan to go snuggling up to her back when she rolled over. Which he kind of automatically did, nuzzled lightly at her neck in a sleepy lazy kind of way, because he was going to make himself go to sleep and had this odd notion in his head, if he had her locked there, then in the end she’d get bored of trying to figure out how to get away, or sneak off, and therefore go to sleep herself. It was not unlike anything he’d done before, nothing more forthcoming and something she had been pretty much used too in years gone by.
With him nuzzling her neck, he was not making it easy on her. Not in the slightest. She was laying there revisiting her earlier notion that he was trying to kill her. Her eyes closed and she concentrated on the feel of it, backing up into him a little more.
Logan kind of coiled around her, keeping her locked up against him, the warmth of his body easily traversing what little clothing she had on her. A growl was rumbling around in his chest, even if it was not audible, making for soft kind of vibrations to go travelling through him and thus to her. His arm that was wrapped over the top of her moved or a moment and yanked up the cover more, and then he truly did seem to be asleep. He was, or getting there, one leg kicked out and made a loud thud against the other end of the couch, breaking the arm on that end a little, but after the kick it was more than obvious he was fast asleep.
Snuggling against him, Paige sighed and closed her eyes, giving in for the morning.
Logan stayed asleep for about thirty minutes or so, and then woke up, stayed where he was and tried to get his head in check, before he pulled slowly away from her and went into the kitchen to cook something up for later when she woke up. It was only something simple and easy, but still didn’t hurt to have it ready. Then he went back in and sat on the floor once more, staring into the burning fire, wondering why the hell he could never seem to sort things into any kind of priority and why he kept getting himself in stupid situations he really needed to avoid.
Paige shifted as she slept, rolling into the spot he'd been occupying. Her eyes opened at the extra space and she blinked, turning her head to look at him. She kept her breathing even, just watching him. Her lips felt dry, so she wet them, and she pulled the blanket up over her shoulders.
“I know yer awake.” He said, mostly because ‘waking’ had a scent, much like most things did, other things went into play and the soft sleepy scent tended to drift off, plus as he’d been focused on her anyway, it was sort of easy for him to figure out. The soft movement of her eyelids fluttering open, even that was heard, “no bad dreams?” Well he knew she’d not had one of the more violent of types that she suffered from, he had not had one or they’d both probably end up being cut up and then well obviously not sitting how they were. “Got some freshly made soup on to cook.” Just chicken and vegetable, he did not think she needed something heavy, just something that would make her eat, make her slow down relax and then he’d give it a rest and let her get back to studying.
Smiling softly, Paige closed her eyes again, snuggling down into the blanket and sighing in content. There had been no nightmares in the nap, but then again, it had been a nap.
He was more than aware than thirty minutes of peaceful sleep maybe enough as far as his system was concerned but it certainly wasn’t for Paige, only really he was not going to bully her around too much more. She’d tried, and she’d have a few minutes not enough, but some was better than none as far as he was concerned. He’d probably try to figure out something else, but knew that at the moment it be pretty much pointless and as they were both stubborn he’d end up getting in a growly mood and begin the whole ranting stuff off, which pretty much would not stop and then he’d be alienating her all over again. “When Sam gets back, figuring ya both could stay down here fer a bit if ya want.”
"Not gonna take yer place from ya, Logan," she murmured, sleepily. And really, she doubted Sam would either. Sam would probably stay in the mansion just like she would. "He'll stay in tha mansion. Try ta keep me from talkin' ta guys."
At that a laugh came trickling out of Logan’s mouth, “yeah well gives me a break from having to do it.” Well not that he’d obviously been fending any male admirers from her, but one never did know what Logan got up too. Mind you he hadn’t but it was creeping around in his head, so another reason for him to just stop, as he’d already gone and growled at Rogue about boys, got snarly with Kitty as far as her going off with Jack was concerned so why not make it a trio and start growling at anyone that got too close to Paige too? Though the reason for that, would be somewhat different than the reasoning behind doing such where the other two girls were concerned.
