It wasn't that Jay liked being easily noticed, it was just that he usually.. was. So when Kitty entered so swiftly, without so even as a nod in his direction, Jay didn't know what to do. So he didn't. Didn't do anything, that is. The Guthrie boy froze in place, can of soda in his hand, halfway raised toward his mouth for another sip. What was he supposed to do? Maybe she was just busy, or purposefully ignoring the red-winged kid and who was he to object?
But then, when her eyes met with his in one shared, massively awkward moment, he was at least relieved of the notion that she was ignoring him on purpose. Sure, he'd avoided venturing out earlier because he didn't want anyone to make a big deal that he was back, but getting cold shouldered by a stranger wasn't on his list of things to do either.
"Uh.. hi." Wings twitched behind his back, betraying his nervousness. At least he knew now that the meds weren't fast-acting. His brow furrowed lightly, as he'd not known about the existence of the plate of doughnuts earlier. Red hair shifted with the shake of his head 'no'. "No, Ah jes' came down fer a drink.." He lifted the can as if to prove his intentions, but the motion seemed silly when he noted she'd already turned away towards the fridge.
Suddenly the gall that had driven him to take the last soda despite it possibly belonging to someone else.. drained from the teenager. What if that's what she was looking for now? A remorseful grimace tugged at his lips. "If yer' lookin' fer a soda.. Ah'm 'fraid Ah took the last one."
