Who: Rogue and Logan
When: Approx. midnight
Where: Courtyard, X-Mansion
What: Rogue can't sleep.
Rating: PG
Just as Rogue had grown used to early mornings through inability to sleep, she was also used to late nights. If it was insomnia that plagued, it was only because she either couldn't sleep from nightmares or she wouldn't sleep because she feared the nightmares. Another downside to her power. At first it hadn't been too bad; sure, she'd had nightmares about sending her first kiss, Cody, into a coma. But, after a while, they'd started to fade. Her most recent nightmares didn't fade, wouldn't fade. They weren't her nightmares and she had no control over them as she imagined the people to whom they belonged, Logan and Magneto, didn't either.
Sighing as she realised that sleep wasn't coming anytime soon, Rogue pushed the covers of her bed back, reaching out for the flashlight she always kept next to her bed. She tried to be quiet as she slipped on a pair of sneakers as not to wake Kitty. She didn't need to dress even though she was leaving the room; her long-sleeved and long-skirted hooded nightdress covered more than most people's clothes did during the day. Shaking her hair free of the band that held it, letting her white streaks fall down around her face, Rogue opened the door and slipped out into the hallway, closing the door silently behind her.
It felt stuffy to Rogue, almost as if she were suffocating. It was a humid night, sure, but that wasn't it. It was being bundled up all of the time; she often felt like this. The only thing she found helped was to sit outside for a while and get some fresh air so that's exactly where she headed. Luckily for Rogue she passed no adults as she made her way out to the courtyard, her bare feet padding lightly along the wooden floor. It was late and she'd surely be told to return to bed if she was caught. Still, this didn't discourage her as she pushed the door leading out to the courtyard open. The moment she breathed in the fresh outside air, she knew any trouble she could get in for being out at such a time would be worth it.
Smiling a little to herself, she took a seat on one of the nearby stone benches. She knew she should probably go somewhere a bit less open than the courtyard but, even armed with her trusty flashlight, she didn't quite fancy heading out into the gardens. Her return to being the fearless girl she once was was slow-going, even slower after the incident with Magneto on Ellis Island all that time ago.
