In 1921 an archaeologist by the name of Alfred Atkins, wrote a book named The Old Straight Track, where he outlined ancient lines upon the earth, called Ley Lines. They were meant to link, ancient monuments and other such places. Since he wrote his book many others have looked into his theories, many have suggested it was merely how the ancients had lived that had caused them, others believe very differing things. For one reason or another, people had came to believe that Ley lines were magical, not due to anything that Atkins had written, so where did the stories come from? Brian Braddock however knew, that following them, finding where they crossed over in specific places on the British Isles, then you could suck up and become filled with interdimensional energy. He didn’t care that if he shared this with those outside of the small sphere of friends that knew he was a mutant would think him eccentric and slightly around the twist, but he really felt no need to share this information either.
On Monday after the meeting, he left Muir Island and made his way to the Uffington White Horse, where he stayed the day long, feeling the power surging up inside of him, then flew, to Cadbury Castle where he stayed until Tuesday evening. He planned to walk the Ley lines the day after, those that crossed Stonehenge and led towards Arthur’s stone, which would then have him full recharged once more. Have him in contact with the other realm where his abilities came from, hear the whispers of a world beyond.
He travelled back to Muir island on the Tuesday evening, and fell into a disjointed and unpleasant sleep, Brian was not used to the sudden onslaught of things to come, he woke, slept again, woke again due to the images that were playing out to his inner eye, and found sleep was not something he wished to find any longer. Death of a loved one, torture, blood. The dream repeated each time he shut his eyes, and if it had not been due to the fact that when he woke the second time his nose was gushing with blood, then he would probably have attempted sleep yet again. He felt restless and felt something bad was coming, but his dreams had faded due to his inability to let them play out, and the fact that he was not fully charged. Plus his analytical mind found believing that dreams held hidden truths somewhat ridiculous. He should have at least called Fen, Betsy, or even his older brother Jamie, instead he chose to ignore it, and was to find out much, much later, that to ignore things, meant on had to pay a price that they were never willing to face.
