Eva had never been a stickler for personal fitness (because she was miraculously able to keep a taught body without much aide from the treadmill) but as one grew older, gravity had its way of working against them. Now it wasn't that she was looking terribly out of shape, but after eating so many fattening meals for the past three months, Eva was probably carrying a little more 'junk in the trunk' than usual; and what with being an X-Woman and all, she had to make sure she shed those extra pounds before the next mission she would eventually be sent on.
When Matrix had arrived in the gym, she pulled out an exercise mat, flattened it out on the floor in front of one of the many TVs; and assumed the position for her pre-workout stretching. Eva spread out her legs and reached down with both hands, attempting to touch the mat. Unfortunately, not working out (properly) for months, she wasn't able to do it on her first, second or even third attempt. But once she had, she moved onto her next warm up. At this point, however, she began glancing over at the gym's entrance, periodically.
Sam had agreed to meet her there tonight.
The pair had sort of started flirting before they both had to tend to familial obligations, but they remained in contact with each other. She had become quite besotted with Cannonball, which actually came as a bit of a surprise to her. She had never really looked at him 'that way' until last Spring, when he started hanging around in the computer labs to learn more about the machines within it. Of course, Matrix was more than happy to 'tutor' him in the ways of how to properly use a PC. Not surprisingly, he had been a fast learner. Maybe that's why she liked him so much?
But the question still remained: What exactly were they to each other?
They had never gone on an official date, so 'boyfriend and girlfriend' didn't really fit the bill. Hell, they had yet to even admit they were flirting with each other. Matrix wasn't big on discussing her personal life with anyone, except for maybe Zap or Mars, but even she had opted to keep them out of the loop. This was mostly because she wanted to make sure there really was something between Sam and herself and partially because she didn't want to be teased incessantly. That would only further distract her from her work and we couldn't have that, now could we?
It was time for Cannonball to hit the gym once more for a nice workout. The contact between him and Eva had been flirtatious up until they both had familial obligations to attend to. Remaining in contact with her was one thing Sam cherished and always kept up with. He agreed to meet her tonight, on the "down low", so to speak, for the most part because they were not boyfriend and girlfriend quite yet. But he wanted to meet her here.
Cannonball did not make his presence known, but he had arrived. White tank top, loose shorts - his usual workout attire when he came down to the gym. Shifting the white towel around his neck with both hands, he scanned the gym quietly and found his target, doing her lovely pre-workout stretch. He slowly sauntered over to her, walking behind her. "'Ey." he said, with a wide grin on his face.
Eva wasn't dressed all that impressively: a simple sweatshirt and sweatpants set (all in black) was all she was willing wear for the gym tonight. It was more function over fashion, but it also masked where most of her weight had settled (hips, buttocks, and of course, the hips.) So it all worked out.
When she had heard the door open, she glanced back mid-stretch to see Sam heading her way.
"'Ey," he had said and for whatever reason, this caused Eva to mirror his wide grin with one of her own. It was probably the accent.
"Hey yourself," she greeted him, before drawing herself back up to full height again. "I was beginning to think you weren't going to show." Was she teasing? Probably. Most people at the mansion knew she didn't angst over people being late - when it didn't concern work, that is. If he was working with her, well, he'd be getting an earful right now.
