Ororo Munroe hadn't felt so helpless as far as she could recall in recent memory; and that was saying something. The school had been contacted by the jet and it was revealed before the Blackbird returned that Hank had been killed. She would've never thought it possible - not for something so 'routine' and with the company he had on the mission. Her first reaction was to go to the hangar and await their return. She was desperate to see the two other people who loved Hank and knew him as well as she did - and of course to be with Kurt. The ball court above was opening and dim evening light could be seen from above, and the lights along the landing shaft were aglow. A gasp escaped her throat and she felt her limbs go limp. All this waiting and pacing she'd done and now she felt like she'd fall apart when she looked into the eyes of Scott and Jean. Seeing them without Hank would mean it was all real. "Oh god." She began to feel lightheaded and weak-kneed, and closed her whitened eyes to the sight of the incoming jet and her ears to the sound of the hollow thunder that she herself was making.
*BAMF!* Instinctively, Kurt reached out and caught Ororo as her knees buckled, and he wrapped her in a tight embrace. He knew there was nothing he could do or say to take the pain that Storm was feeling away, and it was eating him up. The noises of the jet landing behind him filled his ears, but the only noise he paid any mind was the sound of Storm's weeping. "I am here now, liebling," he paused to shush her, "I love you."
