Clash of the Titans
Who: Ra, The Black King + Hellfire Club
When: Friday, September 19th, 2008 (evening)
Where: Current Hellfire Club headquarters (Versailles, France)
What: Denouncement
Status: Complete
Rating: R

So it wasn't hard to take out dark-dependant creatures with a solar whip. The guards outside the Palace probably hadn't needed to be destroyed... Miles Edan might not have gone to such lengths had he not been so infuriated by the current tactics of one of the oldest and most respected organizations in the world. He had been depending on the Hellfire Club's survival to ensure his plan for the new world would come to fruit.

They had survived all right... and would continue to do so, apparently; only in darkness, ridden with a disease which was mutated and tainted by human exposure. They were simpletons - the lot of them. What happened to those who were intelligent and powerful and wealthy? Had the state of the world driven them to madness?

Ra was here in Versailles to find out.

"Esteemed members of the Hellfire Club!" he called out once he was within range of the chamber where he was sure they were all dwelling. The trail of blood and the (recently-burned) guards had given him the biggest clue. "Hear my request!" The Englishman knew better than to talk down to these people. He approached the doors and a burst of energy swung them open, knocking him back several yards through the smears and pools of fresh blood along the hallway floor. He fought to right himself and was partway to his (bare) feet when he noticed his company...

The doors gaped open, and standing in the frame was a dark, slim figure, exuding power. "I should kill you now, vagabond, for destroying my guards. Now stand up and tell me why I shouldn't."

Ah. "I see reason has long since abandoned your ranks." Ra made to follow the first part of the dark man's order, but not because he had requested it. In order to gain any sort of respect or a sane ear, he needed to look Shaw in the eye. Man to man. God to monster. Ra stood before the slender man, bathed in uncomfortable shadow and smeared with still-warm blood.

"Shall I shed some light on your current condition?" As we all know, light is the bearer of knowledge. In darkness, there would be a fool for a king. Had the Black King become a dark fool?

Surrounding his body, there came a hot, pulsating spectacle of illumination. Ra emitted pure solar energy, shining upon Shaw, through the doorway behind him, and back down into the hall. He stepped forward as he noticed Mr. Shaw yielding to his display. Miles entered the chamber alight, his eyes scanning the wretched and writhing bodies of who had been the most powerful and influential people across the face of the globe. They hiss and bemoaned his advancement toward them.

They had all been turned.

The only people who were still and quiet were the servants and victims-to-be who stood, laid and sat amongst their homo superiors conquerors. "Such a tragedy."

REASON? This man before him knew no reason. Had he, he might've known better than to behave in such a brash and offensive manner. Shaw made to advance as the wanderer opened his mouth to speak again. He might've seen this coming...

All at once, a sharp and invasive light pierced the darkness around him, and he closed his eyes to it, raising his arms to cloak his face. His masked mouth now parted, canines elongating, lips shining with saliva. His feet led him to stand back within the chamber, listening to his followers cry out in pain. "Stop this!" his fanged mouth bellowed as his arms moved back down to his sides. He would put this fool out like a candle. His concentration fell on the shining pariah and he focused on pushing him back toward the nearest wall. Shaw advanced. He sent wave after wave of pure energy toward the man, and as he drew nearer, his skin felt aflame, but he drew from the lunatic's power. "What is tragic about eternal life and unlimited power," he came upon him, skin bubbling, peeling, then regenerating. His eyes didn't flinch, "friend?"

Shaw advanced while the others retreated and Ra stood his ground, confident that his light would drive the demon back. But it didn't, then Miles noticed it... he was being drained, his power was fading away at an alarming rate. Shaw was drawing his energy right from him and was channeling it into himself. This was the reason he was still standing, Using Ra's own energy to regenerate at a quicker rate. Never the less, Miles stood his ground, 'Yes, come closer to the light wicked one, let it guide you into the next life,' Ra thought to himself. He amped up the output while he answered Shaw. "Diseased and cursed, running from the very thing that gives us life?" An unnatural existence, not fit for the gods and goddesses the humans' plague had returned to power. Finally mutants would retake their place as the merciful, benevolent keepers of mankind. Shaw would not stand in his way.

Admittedly, the solar flames were beginning to hurt worse than Shaw was willing to endure. Thusly, he prepared to end their minor scuffle, "I do not run from the sun. Know this, before I end you... Before I am through on this earth, the sun will cower in the heavens at the mention of my name." Sebastian's arm tensed and drew back, and with all the energy he had drawn from the man before him, he set his fist to the wanderer's jaw and put him to the floor with his own power. SPF Black King.

The asylum escapee had been snuffed. Shaw's eyes narrowed as he watched over the crumpled form on the marbled floor. Though he doubted the man had been well-fed, he hungered. And a display needed to be made. The Black King had defeated their foe. He would now reap the benefits of his victory. He swept down to one knee and grasped the other man behind the neck. He pulled him roughly so that his smudged face was close to Shaw's smooth-shaven one. In a whisper, "It begins here with you, fool. I have received the sun's power through you, and now I will drink from you. I thank you for the living metaphor that you are," a smirk came then, that was displayed to the closer parties who might've been hearing his little speech. His lips parted, smirk fading, and he sank his teeth into the unconscious man's neck and drank. Until he was satisfied. Afterwards, he took a firm, expert hold on the vagabond's skull and snapped his neck with a quick twist. He slipped from Shaw's hands with a limp wave of his limbs and thudded against the floor. The Black King stood. "I would not ever let harm befall such loyal, worthy subjects." His voice was quite clear now, and louder and richer from the feeding (both sorts). "Gather yourselves. We are leaving this place." He stepped unceremoniously away from the body at his feet and headed for a far doorway. "One of our fellows from America has sent word that the time has come for us to take action. There is nothing left for us here. We're going to New York."
