If it weren't for the fact that two-thousand milligrams of delicious sodium had been tumbling in his mouth, he would have responded to Demon promptly. Instead, he took another bite of his Mac & Cheese and almost gave the impression that he was going to ignore him completely. But before the seductive mutant could give up and walk away, Joe stood up and handed his bowl to Will; he didn't want to leave a ring on the coffee table. He walked up to Demon and stood inches away from his face while crossing his arms.
"I praise your desire to apologize and respect your willingness to alter your moral boundaries, but those kinds of changes don't come over night. There is no justification for what you did other than your need for an extreme psychological remedy. You’re a narcissistic glutton for punishment, an incautious and feeble excuse for a mutant. We‘re all here using our powers to better ourselves and help others in need, which makes you…the complete opposite of everything we stand for. I’m beyond shame and embarrassment, beyond anger and resentment; I’m to the point of realization that I shouldn’t have expected anything else from a member of the Brotherhood.”
Was that called for? Perhaps it was, considering Demon violated Josiah in a way that nobody else has before. It wasn’t something Joe would forget, but he did want to forget the pathetic young man standing before him. He made that known.
“Please…” He shook his head side to side.
“Just leave…”
Joe returned to his seat and retrieved his bowl from Will. He didn’t eat though, only stabbed the macaroni with his fork violently and sighed with frustration. It wasn’t often that the doctor became heated, unless of course his ethical strings were intentionally plucked. Sex was something special, something you do with someone you love, not something to be wasted on a forceful near-anonymous encounter.
