Self-control...
Self-control was one of the first lessons (if not the first) one learned when they arrived at the mansion. And it wasn't just limited to their mutations either, it extended to how you behaved towards others as well. Attacking fellow classmates or staff members wasn't something that was taken lightly but, admittedly, Jean was sorely tempted to do so.
Not if I have any say in the matter. As long as she still had breath in her body and she was still married with Scott, Emma would not have him.
Emma Frost seemed to know with buttons to hit and when. The woman was deliberately trying to get her to do something; something that would either end in someone getting hurt... or worse. Jean wasn't completely sure she'd be able to reign herself in, if it got that far. But, it was up to her to choose how this would end and she was determined to take the higher road....
And then Logan entered the room and Emma invited him to join them. Jean suppressed the urge to roll her eyes at the White Queen's words and her stance seemed to become even more rigid.
While the Phoenix might've jumped at the chance to be with Logan, he had never been her boyfriend. Ever. Though Jean had been attracted to him (and still was to some extent), she never would've pursued anything more than casual flirtation with the feral mutant. She, unlike someone in the room, believed in the sanctity of marriage.
"He's not my boyfriend, Emma." He never was. No matter how it looked to an outsider's point of view, Logan and Jean had never been an item. They had flirted and kissed (once or twice) before, but they had never let it get further than that... Would that be considered cheating? Could it be? It was a bit of a gray area as far as she was concerned.
However, having Logan there might even the playing field. He disliked Emma almost as much as she did, after all.
Her gaze shifted back to Scott, who was silently pleading with her to keep her emotions in check; she could hear him. Don't worry, I've got it under control. She hoped.
