Jason had needed just a little time after speaking with Levity to think and get his head on a bit straight before feeling able to tackle another apology. Plus, he wanted time to try and get the strange 'attraction' to Mars' more violent actions out of his mind. He was just coming from another session of speaking with Xavier when he saw Mars and Zap eating in the dining room. If he didn't try to talk to them now, he knew he was going to keep putting this off. So instead of heading back to the Brotherhood dorms, he moved to the entrance of the room. He was hesitant to enter without permission, given the subject he was planning to bring up and his previous interactions with them. Best to let them decide if they wanted to speak with him. He spoke up from there. "I don't want to interrupt, but I was hoping to have the chance to speak with you," he glanced between Mars and Zap, "Both of you."
Zap hadn't given the person walking past a second thought until she heard him speak. She raised her eyes from her plate and glanced to Ronan briefly. Huh. This wasn't something that happened every day. She held tight to her fork while she bit down on the inside of her lip with her canines, "Yeah, hey." She shifted her eyes down to the table. "C'mon in." It was a free country after all. Sorta. Maybe not anymore? Stupid apocalypse.
Ronan had been enjoying his food (and company) before the incubus showed up at the door. He wasn't in the mood for being interrupted and was about to voice it when Zap gave the okay. Damn it. His eyes shifted to Jason. If he tried anything with her, he'd kill him right there. "What the fuck do ye want?" he asked, not bothering to make his voice friendly.
Jason took a step past the doorway at Zap’s invitation and glanced again between the two. He clamped down at the twitch in his blood at Ronan's reaction. He had to focus on his reasons for being here and NOT how that man's antagonist nature towards him made him feel. He decided the best way to do that was to focus on Zap for the moment. He took a breath and started. "I wanted to apologize. I understand why you acted the way you did, and that my actions that led up to that were inexcusable." Good word that, he half thought to himself. He wasn't looking for absolution. How could he? With his newfound outlook on the subject, what he did to Joe was making him feel ill. "I am sorry. I'm sorry that I hurt your friend, sorry that I made you feel that way,” even though at the time he thought she wanted it. He glanced over to Mars. "And I am sorry that I caused so many problems for you." Then he looked down before looking up at Mars again. "I also wanted to thank you for stopping me." It had been something he realized he should actually tell the man instead of just being grateful in his own heart.
Yet another surprise. Zap laid her fork down sometime throughout Jason's speech and she had shifted her hand to touch Ronan's leg under the table. She rubbed it subconsciously, probably mostly for his benefit. Okay, a little for her benefit. But Demon still gave her the heebie-jeebies. She blinked several times before even beginning to think up a response. Edana had mentioned this might be coming. Seeing as there had been no official ‘session’ declared, Zap supposed her empath friend had thought it fine to share some tidbits about she and Demon's discussion. He seemed generally sincere. Well, at least someone had gotten through to him. She let her mouth shift from the worried line it had been up into an appreciative smile. "Yes," she said, finally, then looked to Ronan, "thank you for stopping him." She smirked slightly, but looked back to Jason with acceptance in her eyes. It had been so long that it all felt like water under the bridge. But having lived at Xavier's for as long as she had, she knew and understood that it was encouraged to make amends with people you had to live with after you'd wronged them. She just hoped Ronan would see her way. Or, at least not his usual way.
The Irishman grasped the hand that was on his thigh, stopping its motion, but his eyes remained on Jason. He didn't like this guy. He wasn't going to pretend he did. And he made Zap uncomfortable, which also didn't earn him any brownie points. "Yer welcome." his voice was no more friendly than it had been before. Ronan could usually tell when someone was lying, and he was pretty sure Demon wasn't. Least he was getting his shit straightened out. "Was there anythin' else ye wanted?" He shifted so he could put his arm around Zap, lightly.
Jason shook his head. “No.” He took a step back. “I’ll leave you two alone, then.” Probably for a very long time. While Zap seemed to be mostly fine with things, Mars was obviously holding a strong grudge. Jason was fine with that. Well, he wished the idea of Ronan slamming him into a wall or beating the hell out of him didn’t turn him on, but he was fine with the man not liking him. He could also read the obvious message that the man wanted Jason to stay away from his girl which he had no issue with either.
