Joe wiped away the excess tears in his eyes when he noticed Jean-Paul entering the room. He certainly didn't want anyone to know how emotional this all was. Josiah didn't make any eye contact while responding to the question.
"I'll be fine. He's heavily sedated," he replied in a I-don't-care-about-anything tone while dropping an instrument on the counter causing a loud bang.
The doctor was in a peculiar state. He seemed upset with everyone and everything. He was frustrated that Demon took advantage of him, but was even more concerned with what happened between him and Northstar. Was Jean-Paul attracted to him? Have they been sleeping with each other all this time? Questions rained in his mind. He was guilty about the elevator incident, but was what he did so wrong? He was for the most part helpless, he was a victim. But the thought that Jean-Paul may have willingly done something with Demon was a thorn in Joe's side. The thorn made him shut down emotionally which in turn made him a bit anti-social. While the wheel was spinning in his mind, he was startled by a large robust man barging into the room. It was Pete. The tin man looked as though he was about to beat the patient, until Joe jumped in front of him to explain.
"Wait! Calm down. Everything is under control. He's totally unconscious and the professor has already spoken to him," he said to Pete while putting his hands up to keep him from getting any closer. When his words didn't seem to sink as expected, he continued.
"Look, I of all people know he is a jackass, but he is still a patient right now. My patients are what comes first in here."
He got closer to Colossus and looked him into the eyes. Joe knew he was hardly intimidating, but he took his job very seriously.
