Dr. Jean Elaine Grey | ``The Phoenix`` (![]() ![]() |
Interruptions had always been a staple in hers and Scott's relationship from the very beginning, and for them to get interrupted while they were 'making up' (so to speak) - well, it was very fitting. And when they had rushed from their bedroom and back down into the sub-basement (where they suited up), it truly felt like old times again. This, in itself, made Jean feel more confident about going into battle.
Once the three of them were outside on the mansion's grounds and they had parted ways, Jean watched Scott as he climbed up the guardtower and prayed that they would, indeed, reunite again once it was all over. Turning away and drawing in a deep, uneasy breath, Jean began to make her way to where the wall had given way during all of the chaos and started to use her powers to deter the cannibals by flinging one, two, to maybe a half dozen of them at time at a time (while some of the others tried to keep the rest from filtering in) into trees or into each other whenever she could.
As time progressed onward, the rest that had managed to survive (or had been clever enough to get passed) her teammates were beginning to crowd through the small space where bricks had once lain. Nervous, Jean began using the telekinetic energy surrounding her and directed it with both her mind and hands more forcefully, propelling several of them back out into the street beyond. She had no desire to kill them, but if they were allowed the live, there was no way the X-Men or the Brotherhood would survive the night.
Closing her eyes now, the redhead concentrated harder. Unfortunately for her, having her mind closed as tight as she did, she was unable to sense the presence of others psychically; so while she had her back turned to the mansion, a few of the Darkseekers that had managed to sneak in before she had begun her own defense, had singled her out and were already beginning to circle her like a pack of ravening wolves.
