His eyes opened a second before the alarm sounded. He heard the hundreds of riled minds that were headed towards the mansion. There were so many of them. They were so loud and jumbled that it caused a headache. He couldn’t focus on just one individual, it was like hearing multiple symphonies at the same time.
The professor sat up from his bed and stared blankly at the wall in front of him. He closed his eyes and once again attempted to assess the situation with his mind. He was unsuccessful. The stress and panic of those in the mansion combined with the chaos of the infected mass caused a mental traffic jam. Some in the mansion could hear the faint random voices in their head, causing some to panic even more.
After dressing and throwing on a beige wool trench coat, he headed to where everyone was gathering. He stood in front of them and spoke with a dominating tone.
“Listen to me, everyone!”
The background voices and chatter subsided as he made sure he was heard.
“Everyone listen. It is absolutely necessary that an order is followed. No matter what your powers or strengths, these beings can not be underestimated. Do not allow rage and vengeance to drive your actions. Remain focused on looking out for each other rather than terminating the infected. We are here to defend ourselves, not to wage war.”
He began to motion with his hands as he continued.
“Those with long range abilities will form a line here, those with hand-to-hand skills will form a line here. Support teams should assure families and students are secure. Avoid infiltration into the mansion at all costs, we must maintain safety for the individuals inside. Get into position and may God be with us.”
Charles let out a sigh and wondered if he left anything out. He waited for Cyclops or Storm to add anything. He was worried more for the safety of his family than he was about the outcome of this battle. He was quite sure of himself that the attack wouldn’t be successful. It reminded him of something he once said to Erik.; that he had pity for anyone that came to this mansion looking for trouble.
