"JEAN!" The harsh, German voice came from every direction, and a pair of arms enveloped the Phoenix before pulling her through the vacuum of a smoky, dark secondary dimension. Kurt's hands gripped tightly together, all six fingers interlocked. His mind's eye found the spot he had been planning on landing, and with very little effort, he moved the slender-framed redhead from the cloudy blackness several yards from where she had been standing on Xavier's lawn. He stepped back almost immediately, and his yellow eyes darted a 360 as his body turned to see if they were near any Darkseekers.
Nein. He'd delivered her to safety. From his perch on the balcony beside the Professor, Nightcrawler had seen the circling pack that were approaching Jean from behind, and despite his duty to watch over Xavier, he saw that the other combatants were occupied and calling to her might have not helped. "Schauen sie sich zu," he told her, "watch yourself, Liebe." He didn't want to see any of his colleagues injured - or worse - especially not the women. Despite the females' capabilities, these creatures were a nightmare for any man to battle. He could hardly watch the carnage. But that was what he was to do - and with a heavy heart, Kurt BAMF!ed back to Xavier's side and regained his sharp eye over the battle.
They were all getting tired, now. But the creatures' numbers were dwindling. He prayed for the defense to bring the battle to a close swiftly.
