Masquerade Balls were always interesting affairs to attend. Wren had only been to a few over the course of her young life of twenty-four years, but each and every time had been a unique experience. Some people got some wrapped up in whatever character they were pretending to be, that they adopted their way of speaking (or lack thereof), their mannerisms, and sometimes even their ideologies - just for a night. She, however, hadn't truly tried to be anyone else since she was a high school, drama student; and she wasn't about to wear the acting hat tonight, no matter how good the prospect of being someone else for an evening sounded to her.
Instead of dressing up like anyone in particular, she decided to wear an elegant, period ballgown and a golden, leonine mask. (Both of which meshed very well with each other, in her opinion.) It wasn't that she didn't have the imagination to think of anything clever, but she had only a limited time to plan for this masquerade-gala event.
Around 9:00 PM she had entered the Roseland Ballroom, but she wasn't going to start mingling until after she had procured herself a glass of white wine and had a chance to unwind a bit on one of the sofas in the center of the room. Once she had worked her way through half a glass of wine, Wren let her eyes wander until she spotted a very posh (as always) Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw chit-chatting a mere few feet away from where she was seated. It didn't surprise to see the two of them socializing with one another, as it seemed a majority of the party guests seemed well-connected (either directly or indirectly), including herself. And that meant her oh-so-delightful half-brother, Christian, would probably be in attendance.
Great.
With this thought in mind, her gaze averted from the beautiful twosome for a moment and she looked around ballroom once more. But as far as she could tell, Christian Holland was nowhere in sight. Thank goodness.
Breathing a sigh of relief (even if she knew it would only be momentary), Wren lifted her glass and took sip from it.
