As Zap spoke, her jaw clenched. She thought she heard animosity or derisiveness or even sarcasm in the older woman's voice, and so merely glanced up and smiled. As she straightened up, she searched her memory of Zap's voice, and found less to get mad about. Breathing deeply, she nodded and said, "Yeah. It's," pausing, she searched for the words, "it's hard. Really different." Her gaze drifted off towards the horizon, where the sun had just set, and she stared at the spot for a moment, as if trying to will the sun to return. She didn't want to have to get used to this. She was just getting her life started - her physics degree, a few housing options in Chicago, a plan to run for city office. It felt as if her life had been stolen from her. As she felt her eyebrows raise and face wrinkle, she consciously dropped her expressions and breathed deeply again. Now wasn't the time. Turning her gaze towards Jeanne-Marie, she nodded and smiled. "I'm fine. Will you lead us?"
