Aurora nodded, returning the smile at Alex gave. "I appreciate the not melting my face." Her eyes followed his as he looked up at nothing, then she understood. Alpha Flight had simulators much like this one, but not nearly as complicated, and definitely not as realistic. She'd have to come down here and learn the system. Maybe it had a tutorial...
Letting out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, she nodded again. She stepped back from Havok a few paces, her arms shaking out at her sides. She felt rusty, like she hadn't used her abilities in awhile. Jeanne-Marie tilted her head from side to side, loosening her neck until she heard a releasing crack from her joints. Muscle memory seemed to take over, and her leg muscles began to coil, lowering Jeanne-Marie into what looked like a runners stance. "Ready."
Energy began building up inside of her, Aurora able to feel it coursing through her, itching to burst forth. She had to direct it, concentrate on where it went, or she'd dart off in some random direction that didn't make sense to what her task was. Her task was to spar with Havok, and she knew he was going to knock her on her ass first chance he got. Aurora rocked onto her toes and pushed off from the ground, a burst of speed carrying her in a blur behind him. As she ran, an aura of light began to form around her, Jeanne-Marie concentrating both on which direction she was running, and using part of the stored energy to send a concussive blast toward Havok. She let the blast fly, then darted behind one of the simulated ruins, her feet digging into the grass as she forced her body to a stop.
Yes, she was definitely rusty. But it was coming back to her quickly.
