Matrix had been tinkering away on one of the many computers she kept in her own living quarters when the transmission came in. The voice which boomed in her ear was one that she never thought she'd ever hear again and it immediately caused her to drop everything she was doing to listen in.
Beast. Alive.
Well, hell... That was good news, right? She untangled her legs from the Indian-style she originally had crossed them in and climbed off of her bed, taking in all of the information he was relaying to the medical team: Only Cyclops and I remain unharmed? How was that even possible?
Near-fatal... Critical condition...
Eva felt throat tighten with worry and her breath hitch in her chest at Beast's words. Dear Lord, how could things deteriorate that quickly? Three team-leaders; two mutants with the ability to sense others as well as their locations; a mutant who could render herself (and others) intangible; and one mutant who could transform his body into an organic metal substance had been taken out in one fell swoop?
Matrix was well aware of the fact that no one was perfect and even the most trained and capable person could get hurt, it still seemed strange. Then again, Xavier had mentioned that there had been close to (or over) a hundred infected humans using the University as a shelter of sorts. Eva had expected a few injuries to result from this particular mission, but it was shocking to hear nearly all of them were now just barely clinging onto life.
After the transmission had long since ended, Eva took those moments to gather her thoughts. Not many things in this world could make the technopathic/cyberpathic mutant to show confusion or fear outwardly, but this was one of those situations that she allowed that to happen. Her initial thought was to go down to the sub-basement and await their arrival, but that would've been silly; especially considering she had no medical training to be able to contribute anything other than distraction. She'd only be in the way.
Instead, the colorful mutants decided to go and check in on Zap. She remembered that her fellow techie had mentioned something about upgrading the suits in the workshop to her earlier; so that's where she'd look first.
By the time she reached the open doorway, Eva spotted both Conlan and Zalika huddled on the floor together. Zap looked like a wreck... but Ronan's little brother seemed to be trying to lighten the mood by cracking little jokes. Good.
Eva tapped her bare knuckles on the side of the door frame to get their attention. This was one of those moments when one probably didn't want a bunch of people sticking their nose in but, Eva considered Zap, Mars and Sentient family; she hoped they felt the same.
"Is it all right if I come in?"
