"Dang. Look at Storm." John grinned over to Kitty and placed his hand on her lower back. Since he'd asked her to come with him to the prom, things had been working a little better for him within the X-Men. He supposed he took it as a sign he was accepted again. And it felt good to be there with all of his old friends and to be in a good mood (for once). Miss Pryde managed to look amazingly adorable for the event, and he was thankful he could see eye-to-eye with her. Some of the couples on (and off) the floor were a little unevenly matched. He didn't want to be dancing it up with an Amazon. The air outside the pavilion was humid and hot, and the sun was still up, but inside there were large fans and the roof of the tent blocked a lot of the heat. "You don't have to wear that thing if you don't want to," he said without looking over into her eyes. He had rigged a corsage with a pink rose and some kind of small, white flowers (he didn't know what the hell they were) and given it to Kitty when he snagged her from her bedroom earlier. "You look nice either way," he added quickly, then smirked.
