It is often said that victims become perpetrators and many would believe that is the case for Erik Lensherr, a man that is theoretically living in the shadows of the Nazi regime, only he is unaware and blinded by self-righteousness. With recent news that a cure has been discovered, the Professor was fairly certain Magneto was planning for a time of tyranny. While the homo sapiens begin to gather themselves, his fellow elder’s dream of mutant superiority could materialize in a matter of months. Their talks of peace and unity between cheers of tea cups were no doubt an illusion. A different kind of cure has been found, a cure for Magneto’s ongoing disease of perpetual paranoia and lust for power. But this cure would come with grave consequences. Yes civilization would rebuild itself, but at what cost? Charles hoped that the near apocalypse would bring enemies together, which it did, but he is no fool. In order to have balance there must be two opposing forces, but that opposing force wasn’t just an enemy, but his friend as well.
Since the Brotherhood of Mutants began calling the institute home; brunch between the two masters became a tradition on Sunday mornings. Talks of good books and laughter over stale toast and runny eggs was just one way the two maintained their social sanity. The Professor feared that this Sunday, however, wasn’t going to be filled with jolly times and ‘remember when’ stories. They had just finished eating and it was time to reveal the true intentions of this brilliant, yet deluded autocrat. There was a tide of change approaching, who was going to be on the forefront?
Charles placed his napkin on the table and stood up from his desk. He walked to one of the shelves against the wall and grabbed a bottle of century-old brandy that was being used as a book stand. He smiled after blowing dust off the top.
“I was saving this for a special occasion…”
He put his hand on the top with the intent of pulling the cork, but ceased from doing so. His smile melted into a pensive expression of seriousness and instead of opening the bottle, he sighed and shook his head. He put the brandy back where it was and looked to Magneto.
