Britannic, Poison & Shard (Research & Development)
After dealing out the individual group assignments, Britannic and the rest of the crew made their way inside the (very dark) floor 1. Armed with UV grenades and high-powered flashlights, Brian led his specific team toward the lower levels where they had pinpointed the location of the Research & Development division. The largest lab was his preferred starting point. They were taking their time in their approach, however, as the team assigned to power up the place hadn't reached their destination, and after all, they had all night. The Brit paused when he came to a wall of metal and glass. Two doors sat in the center and a security pad was off to the right. There was no power, and without power, it didn't really matter if they had codes or Matrix or anything. So, he threw his fist through the glass and the force field around his arm extended to clean out the whole panel so that they could pass through safely. He double-checked the map in his hand, then shined his light down the corridor ahead. "We're nearly there, kids."
Dark hallways and abandoned corridors greeted them around every turn. The place felt eerie and lifeless as it sat rotting away from the months of neglect. Shard had visions of the fellowship taking their shortcut under the mountains through the dwarf mine dancing around his head. Not help but the very English man leading the way. Will just hoped there wasn't some ancient evil lurking below, considering they had enough monsters to deal with already. As Brian destroyed the door, Shard winced. "Let's hurry before we wake something up -" he cut himself off as a warm gust of wind rushed past his face from behind the now shattered door. The smell was new and entirely different from the parts of the pentagon they'd been through so far. It smelled almost human. The sheer possibility of normal humans surviving here hadn't even crossed his mind, especially after watching the hoard of Darkseekers pour out of the building at sunset. "Brian, could there be humans in there?"
"There could be anything here, William," Brian answered, glancing back once to Poison. He was happy he had two survivors along with him. Despite his own heightened senses, he couldn't smell out a Darkseeker from a hole in the ground. Will and Evelyn were much more in tune with their surroundings, and considering the Pandora's Box that lay ahead, it was all the better. "And don't talk about waking something, my friend. I have a Wolverine on my back, I don't feel up to riding a balrog today."
