Brian's jaw clenched firmly through Logan's spiel, mostly to prevent himself from saying something he might regret later. He wasn't stupid, as Logan pointed out, he understood why two 'senior' members of the X-Men had been assigned to tag along. He had been screwing up a lot lately, and he wasn't surprised by the concern about him.
Wolverine's final thoughts left him feeling a bit confused and worried, quite honestly. 'If you don't fuck up, you could be great.' What if he did fuck up? What would that make him? Well, a fuck-up. But other than that...
He sighed between Logan's last words and Kurt's half-hearted encouragement. Neither of the men had really made him feel better about the situation. But at least now he knew there wasn't going to be a struggle for dominance. With Logan and Ronan around, it was destined to happen. He was regretting selecting Ronan to come, as a matter of fact; but that was neither here nor there. The Brit looked down between the two men in the room with him and met their eyes; each once. "I'll do everyone proud," he vowed. Everyone that mattered. He supposed the two men before him that 'didn't want to be here' couldn't have given a shit less about how well he faired, so long as they came out alive on the other side. "Thanks, though," for letting him know he was going to take the fall if everyone died horrible deaths. "I better get back out there. Fearless leader and all that..."
