co-post (Wolverine & Nightcrawler)
Logan led the trio in the rear of the jet, a room storage room directly behind the main cabin. He waited until the other two entered the room then closed the door behind them, so no one else in the jet could hear. Logan turned to face the Brit, raising his chin to meet the taller man’s eyes. “I don’t want to be here, Kurt doesn’t want to be here.” Unless he was talking to Rogue or Kitty or another one of his young female hangers-on, Wolverine enjoyed being blunt. “You created this mission, you planned it, and you did the research for it. The only reason you’re not leading it is because they” Xavier and Storm “don’t trust you.”
Which Logan thought was bullshit, but there wasn’t much arguing with the head honchos around Xavier’s. “So, we’re here to play babysitters because they’re afraid when,” not if “the shit hits the fan you’ll be more interested in the world than of the eight other people relying on you.” Logan pulled a half-smoked cigar from the pocket of his X-suit and placed it in his mouth. He puffed on it a few times just to get the flavor in his mouth then pulled it out with his hand as if he was smoking it. “Which is crap; this is your mission Brian, you know it inside and out and you’re the best leader for it.” Wolverine eyed Brian for a moment watching his reaction carefully. “So it’s yours. We answer to you, just like everybody else in there…” Even Irish, Logan thought as he remembered their exchange a moment ago. “And if you need to bury the hatchet with anyone in there, do it now. Don’t fuck this up and you might as well stick your name on a door and pull up a chair next to Storm.” Logan couldn’t believe how many of the teachers still treated Brian like a kid. Almost seven foot tall and smarter than all of them.
Kurt looked between Logan and Brian as the Wolverine spoke his peace. He agreed with everything the man was saying. He and Logan had discussed it after they’d been informed of the fact that they were tagging along. He was surprised that the heads didn’t trust Britannic, as he had proved himself to be a very capable member of the X-Men and staff time and time again. He knew Brian could do it. He gave him a slightly devious smile after Logan finished speaking. “You’ll do just fine, mein freund.” He patted the large blond man on the shoulder. “You can do it.”
