Wren had almost all but given up hope that someone would interrupt her when Zap had shown up. The other girl's appearance seemed to have lifted her spirits somewhat and she had looked up from the book ("The Life of Michelangelo") she had been reading moments before and proceeded to give Ms. Pallaton her full attention instead.
"Oh, well," she said, "I'm glad you did. It was getting a little too quiet in here, anyway."
Wren did her best to smile warmly at Zalika, which actually reached her eyes this time. Smiles seemed to be more readily available these days, something she was grateful for. Honestly, being mopey all the time was becoming a bit tiresome. Granted, she still had her moments of sulkiness but, it didn't happen nearly as much as it had been over the past four months or so.
"It's an excellent read, by the way. I've actually read it a few times before, but it's just one of those books you can read over and over again, you know?"
Reading seemed a great way to pass the time. Admittedly though, Wren was growing restless and was beginning to desire something more than sitting around all day reading or skulking about the library and/or her living quarters.
"It's called The Life of Michelangelo, by Ascanio Condivi, if you're ever interested in reading it yourself," Wren said as she turned herself around on her seat, so she could get a better look at her. It was important to have eye-to-eye contact with speaking with others, after all.
Wren had met Zalika on a few separate occasions, mostly in passing. She hadn't been feeling very talkative or chummy then, so their interactions had been severely limited.
