At the sound of their father's voice, Pietro sat up sharply from the bed, eyes quickly narrowing at the sight of the older man. The relationship that Pietro had with his father was a tentative one. So much like a rollercoaster that more often than not, even he didn't know where his emotions lied when it came to the powerful mutant. Though part of him so desperately wanted to connect with this father that they had come to know as their own, the lies and deceit that surrounded the twin's entire life made this anything but easy.
Still, on this day that should have been celebrated between Wanda and himself, Pietro couldn't help but grow angry that Magneto had intruded on their conversation. How lightly the man appeared to handle this situation. So much so that it made Pietro sick to his stomach.
Glancing at the box in Magneto's hand, Pietro gave a knowing look to Wanda before accepting the gift. Another act to buy their affection? Well, Pietro had to give the old man some points. When he'd woken up that morning, he'd been certain that Magneto would not even remember it was their birthday. What with him not even being aware that they were his children for the majority of the twin's lives.
Opening the wooden box, Pietro pulled out the bottle from inside, impressed with the label even if it may have been slightly against his will. It was a very rare bottle, but oddest of all was the fact that it was probably the best thing Magneto could have gotten for his son. Given the circumstances, at least. Idly, he wondered how the man could have known, before realizing that it had probably been Xavier, poking around their minds and stealing the information from them.
"Thank you, Father," he said, doing his best to contain the bitterness in his words.
