The tension broke when Eva made her remark about the coffee, and Zap laughed aloud. She smirked, knowingly. Ronan was responsible. The second worst coffee maker was Joe, but she knew he'd been upstairs until later in the morning. She shook her head discreetly to Eva, meaning to say 'nothing, sorry' when the woman caught her gaze. She shrugged her shoulders as well, just to be safe, which went unnoticed by their male company, as he was still looking toward Eva.
Mort nodded approvingly toward the Skittle-haired lass and advanced to the lead of their trio, then passed into the kitchen where he pulled two of the island stools out - one with each hand, soundlessly, then headed for the fridge. There was a huge basket of fresh corn on the cob on the counter by the fridge, but he was a meat and potatoes kind of bloke. It was damned time for something fulfilling. "Don't suppose there's any bread left..." There was some mystery meat in the fridge in large packages, and then a load of frozen and semi-cold dinners. He planned to fry up whatever was wrapped in white paper and put it on a sandwich.
"There're tortillas." Zap offered, moving to take one of stools he'd pulled out.
"Calm down, chief," he responded, giving the brunette a wink.
Zap rolled her eyes and reached forward to the center of the island where there was a basket of fresh vegetables and fruits, and grabbed a green bell pepper. She'd had 'em raw before, and it looked like Toad had plans for the stove, anyway.
"Has this been ID'd?" He peeled back the wrapping to reveal something that looked like a porksteak. He wasn't sure if there were pigs on the property. Huh.
