After a less-than-heartfelt greeting, Erik had found himself a seat in Lorna's dressing chair and watched the tall, elegant women move across the room after some such thing or another. He had disturbed her morning routine, apparently. "I wanted to ask you a question now, for some number of weeks," for years, actually. "About some letters that I had sent you." Of course he had already asked Charles about the letters. They had never reached the girl's eyes. Xavier had taken custody of the young woman and he wasn't having Erik fill her head with venom and malcontent via handwritten correspondence. 'Fair enough' Erik had thought, but still, he had sent the letters periodically with hope that she would at least know of them, even if she didn't get to read their contents. "I never stopped, you know, until I received that letter from you from California when you were studying. It was your first reply and my last letter, if I recall." She had told him she didn't want to hear from him in her own script.
Earlier on, he wanted the girl for the sake of having his own child near him. As she grew and he realized her potential, he had been seeking her out more for the benefit of a powerful ally than as a child to look after. He knew Charles would see she grew into a capable adult. And she had, which was why he was here now, making up for lost time. "I didn't leave you." Xavier had simply refused her departure.
