It wasn’t often that someone took the stance of proving Charles was wrong about something. The professor leaned back and thought to himself. ‘Leave it to a young mind’.
“Perhaps my reaction that night was inappropriate concerning the circumstances and for that, I am sorry Troy. I suppose I see you two together so often that I commonly think of you both as one and not separate. We’re all dealing with the recent tragedies in our own way, the mansion is full of dissension and sorrow.”
Charles changed his tone from demanding, to pleading.
“I just want the best for everyone here. I want us to be more than a team and a group of companions, more than teachers and students, I want us to be a family. William, I know your mutation effects your reasoning, but we all have to learn how to integrate our powers into everyday life. It is something we all have learned and still are learning.”
He looked to Torrent.
“You both are wise beyond your years. I would like you both to be involved again, but if not, I understand.”
He gave them both a smile as if things would be better and quietly left the room.
