His guilt was pressing down harder now than before. He couldn't watch this escalate; he couldn't let Troy talk himself into homelessness. "Professor, Troy didn't want to hurt the twins. He was defending me. I know what I did was wrong, and what you said makes sense to me. I think I do have a lesson to learn." He paused and tried to think of a respectful way to continue what he had in mind to say.
"And I'll take your words to heart. But they can't mean the same thing for both of us," he gestured between himself and Troy. "Outside the other night, you spoke to us like we were one person." He looked into Xavier's face with earnestness, "And just now, you tried to explain yourself and offer advice that only applies to one, and not the other. We don't believe everything the other does, and we don't act or think the same way all the time. Because, right now, I don't think I can do what you need me to do as an 'X-Man'. But I think Troy can. He did what he was supposed to."
Will's eyes shifted to the side where the Native was, but switched back to Xavier fairly quickly. Will held in a sigh, and thought 'He can if he doesn't let his pride get in the way'.
