Authorities are now confirming that there was a break in at the New York City Mutant Registration Center. The masked culprit reportedly vandalized the inside of the building with smiley faced stickers and left an anchovy pizza within the building. The culprit made off with both a computer and an external drive which contained names, photos and powers of hundreds of registered mutants in the New York area. This has sparked protests by mutants and mutant supporters, staring this as a gross invasion if privacy. Authorities assure that all data had already been sent to the central unit, so no data was lost so mutants will not need to re-register themselves. A full investigation is being launched to find and destroy the stolen data. Since this incident, the Mutant Affairs Division has stepped up security, doubling its guard and installing more cameras to ensure that such a theft does not occur again.
In related news, The Sentinel Project has announced it has a new weapon in the fight against renegade mutants, the Repressing Serum. This serum has been tested and proven to temporarily repress the X-Gene when injected into the blood stream of mutants. While this will not reverse physical mutations, it does temporary block mutants from using their supernatural powers, thus making apprehending a resisting mutant much easier for the Sentinel Soldiers. The Serum has recently been approved by the government for use in law enforcement and will be used in addition to crowd control and tranquilizer weaponry. The effects of long-term use of the serum has not yet been tested.
