Today, the Senate voted and passed the Mutant Registration Bill, proposed by Senator Robert Kelly. The Mutant Registration Act will require all mutants to register their abilities with the government, a new division of law enforcement has been approved. This new group, which is tentatively being called "Project Sentinel," will be a division specially trained to deal with mutants and mutant violence and is expected to begin training thousands of officers within the month.
Senator Kelly called this a "Great step forward in the safety, protection and peace of mind of the population." The Registration Act has already spawned several protests, mutants and mutant supporters citing violation of their right to privacy. Senator Kelly countered such accusations by stating that one must be registered to carry a hand gun, and most mutants have powers far more destructive. We will continue to bring you details in this story as they unfold.
