Fia had been sitting on the mats, stretching out her muscles after she'd spent some time on the sand bags. Her knuckles were sore and her shoulders were aching with fatigue, her mind turned more or less inward. She was in a safe place, and so she could relax the vigilance that marked her posture when she was abroad in the city. For all that there had been no signs that her old comrades were coming for her, if there was one thing she'd learned from Ric's capture, it was that you could never be too safe. Out there.
Apparently she needed to revise her opinion of safety here at Omega Base, though.
The sound was her only warning. While her partner could be as silent as the grave when it suited him, when he was in a playful mood like this, his bounding gait made a distinctive patter on the floor, and her power over air amplified it, carried it to her, and gave her just enough warning to duck as a slightly furry form came hurdling towards her. Duck, and throw up her arms as if to fend off an attack. Which was technically what she was doing. Play? Or practice? With Wild Child it was hard to tell, and her response was the same for either.
A gust of arm followed the motion of her arms, a strong one. Strong enough to lift her furry friend up and send him spinning through nothingness a safe distance over her head.
