Ruth certainly didn't mind holding Irene's hand because the connection made her feel closer to her. Touching, like hearing, was an absolutely necessary sense. It bridged one of the many gaps left when facial expressions were taken away. Few people thought about how important eye contact was with other people until they were forced to do without it.
"Ain' so sure Ah should, ya know. Dere's 'notha girl." One of the many perils of precognition was that it offered many possible avenues. There were some futures which had a higher likelihood of success and the probabilities changed often. It also didn't help that Ruth could see the past nearly as easily as she saw the future. She'd seen the kiss, seen Aurora curled up in Scott's bed looking for comfort, it didn't make a good case for the man being unattached. "Who Ah ain' so sure 'bout."
There was something odd about Aurora, but since most of the things Ruth knew could come in a dozen different ways including without sound, she couldn't quite follow what was going on in Aurora's timeline. Confusion always worked itself out eventually, but the question was if it would be too late when it did.
Turning her hand over, she ran the pads of her fingers along Irene's skin.
