Jean might've thought this was a pleasant surprise, but that wasn't the way Laura saw things at this moment. She'd rather be training with anyone else, but no, she had been assigned to train Jean of all people in the damn mansion. Freaking wonderful.
Forcing herself to adopt a professional air, Laura put on a neutral expression. This was official X-Men business and that's the way she would treat this interaction. She was determined to put aside her personal feelings towards Jean for an hour. Then, once this training session was over, she'd find Madrox and tell him never to pair her up with Jean for anything ever again. Once was more than enough for her.
Stepping forward, the alarm on her digital watch was set for an hour. There was no way in hell she'd spend any longer than that training her. "X-23," she corrected her. "I suppose you're Phoenix. Madrox didn't tell me anything about you other than that so you're gonna have to let me know what abilities you have and what fighting level you're at so I know what I'm working with." Yep, all business.
