Jamie was aware of her powers, but he also had experience with some being skiddish or uncomfortable talking about their abilities. Ruth was a prime example, so he liked to wait and see if others wanted to talk about their abilities or not. He nodded, listening as she spoke fidgeting his fingers under the table. "Right," he spoke as he lifted and extended his hands. "You're no fighter, at least not now. I'm certainly no fighter like Logan," he added with a quick grin. "But do you want to be one?"
"There's a reason we have people like Logan on the team--and it's not for his charms." It was an attempt at a joke, poor Jamie was utterly unaware that he was speaking for someone who had fallen for Logan's charms. Not so smooth as he would have liked. "We can teach you to fight, if you want to learn. Basic self defense and team training is required for the team, but we want to work you up to these things at a pace you are comfortable with." Madrox thought it better to let people state their own concerns and reservations about things and incorporate them more slowly. Better than a sink or swim approach, he had a feeling the X-Men would be very sparsely populated if the usual plan was to throw them into an arena with Logan on their first day.
"Your telepathy is something we could really use," he said honestly, eyes lighting up a bit as he spoke. "The ability to transfer information, locations and even thoughts... It could be..." he had to pause to put words together, even then he failed to find a big enough word for the potential of that aspect of her powers. Jamie lightly tossed his hands up as he took the easiest stab at defining it. "Invaluable. If you and other members of the team are not opposed, of course." Minds were a delicate topic, some were very particular about letting others in, at least it sounded like Jean did not have issues using her telepathy to help the team. "I'm very excited that you're interested in joining us," Jamie added with a warm sincerity after a moment, hoping she would believe him. Just because she may not be a front line brawler did not mean she could not be a highly important member of the team. Jamie saw so much potential he had to resist the urge to fidget.
