There were flickers of the future playing through her head, occasionally causing her mouth to quirk sometimes in a smile and sometimes just the edge of a frown. It looked a bit weird to the outside observer, but she was paying attention to what was actually happening and what was slated to happen at the same time.
Such as stopping just at the edge of the sidewalk and pausing there, tapping her cane on the curb stone before stepping off. Possibly just superstition, or it could have been avoiding the truck which passed in front of them just moments before.
