Who: Moreau OT Jean When: Morning Monday Jan 31 Where: [phone convo] Omega Base to Haven What: Sinister calls Jean just to talk.
Essex had, by choice, buried himself in work. It was easier to work than it was to think about the dream. The dream was of course not the only thing which seemed to constantly plague his thinking. She plagued his thinking, and for more than just her use value. More and more, he turned to keeping himself occupied in order to banish thoughts of her face, memories of her sleeping, and other things brought on by a momentary wandering of his half-awake brain. Did he actually crave her companionship?
Jean was a beautiful woman. Intelligent. Firey. Likely to kill him when she found out the truth of it all. Yet he thought of flirting with that chance. He considered her whenever he had a spare moment, when he should have been doing other things. The whirring of his lab equipment, once quite capable of luring him into contemplations of what the mutant population would be capable of in five years or ten or twenty, now only seemed to become background noise to her breathing in his brain.
Essex was not impressed. Moreau missed her. Yet they shared a brain and by connection, Essex missed her. Well, more to say, Essex, in his own true fashion, missed what he might turn her into. It was quite possible she could become the perfect compliment to him. But that meant revealing himself to her.
There was the rub.
Essex liked his secrets. His anonymity. His ability to disappear at a moment's notice should it become necessary. Not to mention, revealing himself meant also revealing his past and its connections with those whom Jean had undoubtedly come to care for and trust at the Haven. Hm....
He wasn't ready. He simply wasn't ready for that yet. However, that did not mean he could not continue to contact her, continue to cultivate a relationship with her, continue to be in love with her. Love was how many great men have found their way to their own destruction and smiled all the while. Picking up the phone from his lab, he was certain the communication was probably monitored much as the rest of the Brotherhood base was monitored, he dialed the Haven and waited. She would pick up, so he assumed.
