Who: Laura (narrative)
What: Waking up from a bad dream.
When: [Backdated] Saturday, January 22nd
Where: Her room at the Haven
Warnings: None
The last few days had been relatively quiet, or at least they had been for Laura. She didn't do well with quiet. She was the type of person that needed to be doing something at all times to keep from losing her mind. What she really wanted to do Friday night was venture out into Mutant Town, but she wasn't quite sure if she had the right energy for it. Going back into that section of town still brought back bad memories for her. Instead, she decided to train in the Danger Room instead. Might as well further her skills to prove herself to the new leader of the group. She had wanted to open her mouth and say something the day Madrox introduced himself as leader of the X-Men, but she thought against it. The guy was probably stressed enough with joining a new team, not to mention taking over it and having to get used to relaying orders to her father. She'd heard stories about how he had killed one of Madrox's dupes, so that was sure to bring an interesting dynamic to the group.
Laura stayed working in the Danger Room well into early Saturday morning, not leaving until around 2 am. Trudging back to her room, she showered quickly before going off to bed. Not even two hours later was she hit with the oddest dream she'd ever had. The scream in her dream jostled her from her slumber and her eyes snapped open, adjusting to the darkness quickly. She was breathing hard and a sheen of sweat covered her face as she brought her hands up to her line of sight. The dream was strong enough to activate fight or flight responses, though in her case, it was clearly fight since her claws were now unsheathed.
Letting out a short breath, she sheathed her claws and wiped her forehead. What the hell was that all about? Laura figured it was just random pieces of her life thrown together, but it was still strange. That and it felt so much more vivid than any other dream she'd ever had before. Grabbing the glass of water off her nightstand, she took a long sip before placing it back and lying back in bed. It was nothing. Just calm down. Her eyes stared up at the ceiling for a few more minutes before she drifted back to sleep.
