He smiled, the kind of smile that he was used to giving where it made him seem smug. "Baby, I piss everyone off eventually, one day even you," which he meant as a joke but there was something about the words that struck him as foreboding. He didn't mean for it to sound that way but there it was.
He slowly laid back down, gazed up at his dark ceiling and slid his arms behind his head. He was trying to remember the dream when she asked that question. Oh, he'd suspected. He assumed from day one.
"I don't play sides with this.... with those..." he moved a hand, waved it in the air as he tried to think of how to word it.
